[Hokkaido] Tokachi Plain

When you visit Tokachi in the summer, you can see huge rolls rolling around on the yellow fields here and there. These rolls are apparently called straw rolls. They're not grass rolls... When harvesting wheat, the ears to be harvested are separated from the remaining stalks, and the remaining stalks are collected and rolled up using a special machine. Because the wheat harvest itself is carried out over a short period in the summer, and because rain is the enemy, the finished straw rolls are often quickly transported away by truck, it seems like a rare opportunity to see the idyllic scenery of straw rolls rolling around in the fields. After doing some research, I found out that the ones wrapped in black or white plastic are "grass rolls" for cows' meals, and the ones without are "straw rolls" for cows' beds.
