Winter is the best season for oysters! 🦪 If you’re craving fresh oysters in the UK, there is no need to fly to France —just 90 minutes by train from London takes you to the charming seaside town of Whitstable. Whitstable is famous for two types of oysters: 🦪 Rock Oyster – Creamy,silky and juicy, with a slightly sweet aftertaste 🦪 Native Oyster – Firm, briny, nutty, with a long-lasting flavor, similar to the French Belon oyster There’s not much to see in Whitstable aside from the Harbour Market and colorful beach huts, so why not visit Canterbury which is just 30mins away by bus? This medieval city dates back to Roman times, with the iconic Canterbury Cathedral as its highlight. Don’t miss the park and canal by Westgate Towers, where you can even enjoy a boat ride in summer! Whitstable is a fairly quiet town. There are no noisy roadside markets or joyful amusement parks. It is only lively because of the crowds at the port. The port is actually quite small, but there are many seafood stalls to choose from, as well as a small art market. You can also buy boat tickets for a boat trip, or buy crab catching tools and go crabbing near the port. There are more kayaks and sails near the harbor. Later I learned that next to the port is England’s oldest and largest yacht club (Whitstable Yacht Club), which is why there are so many sea activity enthusiasts. Stroll and chat along the beach, enjoying the beautiful view of the blue sea and sky. Along the way, you can see many tourists sunbathing and swimming at the beach. There are even beach huts (Tankerton beach huts) available for rent.

Just about an hour away from London by train. Very convenient and it was such a perfect day for a trip out to Whitstable. Winds can get a little strong but the smell of the sea while slurping some oysters was just perfect. 5-6pm is happy hour so there's half price for oysters 😉

After 5pm it turns into happy hour heaven: £6 for 6 oysters—yes, that’s basically 1 quid a slurp. No fuss, just fresh af seaside oysters with sunset views. Cash-only beach shack energy and we’re obsessed. Rating: 11/10, bring your friends and your camera. 🦪 Wheelers Oyster Bar That pink shopfront? Instagram bait. Inside: a cozy little bistro serving oysters and seafood galore. It’s tiny and always has a queue (because of course it does), but the menu looks chef’s kiss. Who gave Bears Ice Cream the right to slay this hard? Tried the miso banana and my brain short-circuited—in the best way. Sweet, savory, slightly salty, and lowkey flirty, like banana bread and umami had a lovechild and dipped it in magic. Literally the Willy Wonka of ice cream. Whoever’s behind that counter is a flavor sorcerer. Excellent Fish and Chips from Kent!!! 10/10

I took a coach bus to Whistable, and I was quite impressed with the town. Moreover, I found this castle which was a coffee shop, super cool given old vibes. Note: if you are looking for a wedding venue this is the perfect place it’s surrounded by nature, has private parking and they have a promotion until next year. This town is known for its oysters, quite salty though but nice.

Oysters and donuts in Whitstable? Already iconic. But plot twist—the donuts taste exactly like those honking traditional Sa-Yung (#沙翁 Fried Sugar Egg Puff) from Hong Kong. I nearly screamed! Warm, fluffy, slightly crispy on the outside and straight-up addictive. You get 5 for £3? Babe I blacked out and almost ate the whole bag before I even made it back to the beach. No regrets, only sayung-fuelled joy. And the oysters? After 5pm it’s happy hour—£6.50 for half a dozen. Fresh, briny, and giving coastal goddess energy. Great place to taste all the tastes of oysters!

Lovely place to explore. Had lunch at Quayside pub. Lots of independent shops in town. Plenty of coast to walk up and down with an abundance of eateries, ice cream and nice wine bars. Great place to spot dogs too.

Enjoy the fresh oysters and the stunning sunset view. Walking alone the beach especially when low tide ( please beware of the high and low tide time otherwise you will be trapped 🤭). Enjoying the sunset , it’s amazing. I have set a time lapse for the sunset which is really beautiful. Whitstable oysters company offers a really fresh oysters ( as I compared with others I have tried from other place than in this restaurant) it tastes sooooo good .

#getgoing2025 Whitstable beach, Kent It’s not sandy but this pretty town’s pebble beach backed by stripy beach huts still rates as one of Britain’s best seaside spots. The stones may be hard on your feet, but the water is lovely – and for those who don’t like sand in their shoes it’s win-win. The town is getting smarter by the day (the annual Oyster Festival draws the crowds), and there are plenty of independent shops and cafés for diving into should it rain. You can’t miss the oyster stalls from the beach – once you’ve had your fill, plonk yourself on the pebbles near The Old Neptune pub so you can pop in and out for drinks (and, crucially, use the loos), then buy a crab sandwich from Elliott’s at No.1 Harbour Street for lunch.
