Think bright lights, yummy street food (hello, candied hawthorns!), and lots of cool things to see and buy. Perfect for a casual stroll and snapping some pics! 📸 Then, facing the big clock tower, I turned right and walked towards the legendary Forbidden City (about 1 km). The walk itself was really interesting! The street transformed into a charming lane filled with traditional Chinese shops. I saw vendors selling roasted chestnuts, tanghulu (those sweet fruit skewers!), and all sorts of souvenirs. You could even rent traditional Chinese outfits for a fun photo op! 🤩 Walking straight ahead, I reached a side entrance to the Forbidden City. WOW. Just WOW. This place is HUGE and absolutely stunning! It's hard to believe it was home to Chinese emperors from 1420 to 1912! Imagine, for nearly 500 years, this incredible palace complex was the center of imperial power. It's filled with beautiful halls, courtyards, and gardens, all built with amazing detail. Seriously, wear comfy shoes because you'll be doing a lot of walking – and trust me, you'll want to stop and take pictures at every corner! 🏰 After soaking in the majesty of the Forbidden City, it's an easy walk over to Tiananmen Square. Just a heads up – make sure to bring your passport for ID checks at the entrance. This square is massive and has so much history! Tiananmen Square is one of the largest public squares in the world and has been the site of many important events in China's history. It's right in front of the Forbidden City's main gate and is surrounded by important buildings like the Great Hall of the People and the National Museum of China. You can take photos from the outside or even get tickets to go up to the Tiananmen Gate for a great view. My first full day in Beijing had to start with the big one: the Forbidden City. just completed a long 4 hours of looking at buildings. Do yourself a favour, and just go to the ticket office at Forbidden Palace with 60 CYN in CASH (pp) hand that and your passport over to the ticket person, then enter and view the grounds at your leisure. I imagine this will take no more 2 hours (as opposed to the 4 hours you spend on tour, which IMO, is Way too long!).

Beijing's weather from April to May is spring. Flowers are blooming all over the city. The weather is cool and comfortable, perfect for escaping the heat and going on a vacation. Day 1 Arrive in Beijing, check in to your accommodation, and go to Beihai Park at Beihai North Station. Day 2 Buy a 1-day tour with a Chinese person on the Trip app or a Chinese app to the Great Wall of China at Badaling. The walk up is not difficult, but the view is beautiful and magnificent. Then go back to walk on Qianmen Street (Qian Men), Qianmen Station, Exit A. From here, you can walk to see the Drum Tower and Bell Tower at night. In the evening, this street is beautiful and has a lot of things to sell. You can walk for hours and still not see everything. Day 3 In the morning, you must book tickets in advance through the app to visit Tiananmen Square. Next is the Forbidden City. It opens from 08:30 to 17:00. Travel to Tiananmen East Station, Exit A. On the side, there is a small park called Changpuhe Park. You can walk around. If you are not tired and have time, walk to the back. There will be Jingshan Park on the mountain. Looking down, you will see the entire Forbidden City. Then go for a walk on Wangfujing Street in the evening, go to Wangfujing Station Exit B, mostly open from 09:00-22:00. Day 4 In the morning, go to the Temple of Heaven, Tiantandongmen Station Exit A, there is a beautiful flower garden inside. Then go to worship at Lama Temple (Yonghegong Temple), which is an old Beijing. Yonghegong Station Exit C, and in the evening, go to take pictures with St. Joseph's Church, Dengshikou Station Exit A and St. Michael's Church, Chongwenmen Station Exit A1. Day 5 In the morning, go to the Chinese Museum of Geology, Xisi Station Exit D, there are many minerals, stones, and gems inside. Wow, if you have time, you should go. Open from 09:00-16:30. Then go to Xishu Church, Xisi Station Exit B, open from 08:00-17:00. This place is very beautiful, flowers bloom all over the church, it is peaceful and taking pictures in front of the church is very beautiful.
