Built by German craftsmen and merchants (the Saxons of Transylvania), this ancient city retains the original appearance of a medieval defensive town. The city's iconic buildings include castles, clock towers, and numerous churches, showcasing a unique architectural style. Sighisoara is the hometown of Dracula, the vampire in Bram Stoker's novel, and all the attractions are concentrated here. The clock tower in the city center is Sighisoara's landmark building. It was once used as the office of the parliament, and there are small quadrangular towers on the top of the clock tower. Now the tower houses the History Museum, and you can also climb to the top of the tower to overlook the fairytale-like red roofs of Sighisoara. Opposite the clock tower is the Tailors' Tower, the second gateway into the old town of Sighisoara. The Bootmakers Tower is less than 100m from the Tailors' Tower and features Baroque architecture.

Indeed, this country is fascinating, with an elegant atmosphere in both cities and villages. The scenery from Bucharest to the Carpathian Mountains is also breathtaking. Today, we visited two ancient towns in Romania - Sighisoara and Sibiu, with Sighisoara being a World Cultural Heritage site. The two ancient towns have many churches, mostly Orthodox, with ancient churches in the city having a rich history and culture, and the church bell towers forming a beautiful city skyline. The Evangelical Cathedral in Sibiu (4) is the most famous Gothic church in Sibiu, built between 1320 and 1520, with a spire over 73 meters high, the tallest building in the city. We climbed up to overlook the city, and the view was worth it! Inside the church is a large mural (5) painted by Johannes Rosno in 1445, marking the transition from late Gothic to Renaissance painting.
