Kamogawa Sea World, located in Kamogawa, in the south of Chiba Prefecture, is an aquarium where you can see a killer whale show, one of only three in the country. Located near the sea, the open-air facility has many creatures on display both indoors and outdoors. This is a hot spring inn located about 10 minutes by car from Kamogawa Sea World towards Katsuura. This time we stayed in the most standard 8 tatami Japanese-style room. The room was very simple, but the large window had a wonderful view of the ocean (^^) Both breakfast and dinner meals were delicious Japanese food, mainly fresh seafood from Boso! The seasoning was sweet and gentle, and the atmosphere was nostalgic. The portions were large, so I think men would be satisfied too! It was completely renovated in 2019. It was originally a ryokan, so the renovation has added a sense of calm and comfort. Recommended points: The restaurant itself has an open kitchen, so you can enjoy cooking in front of you, but there was no demonstration when I visited. However, the restaurant seats themselves are spacious and about the same size as the sofas in a hotel lounge. The menu mainly features seafood such as seafood bowls, but I had game curry. It was a venison and wild boar curry. There was no meaty smell and it was delicious. I went to Kamogawa Sea World in Kamogawa City, south of Chiba Prefecture. I went on a weekday, so I was able to relax and take lots of photos. The tanks with the jellyfish were very beautiful, with lights that matched each jellyfish. In the exhibits of creatures living in Boso, there were some familiar creatures, such as a small praying mantis and fish that I have eaten. Of course there are beautiful exhibits of creatures. When you think of Kamogawa Sea World, you think of the shows. There are also impressive shows where killer whales and people swim and jump together, and humorous shows with sea lions. Kamogawa Sea World is about a 25-minute walk from Awa-Kamogawa Station, and there is also a free shuttle bus. There is a large parking lot, so it is okay to go by car. It is paved and easy to walk on, about 800m, so you can visit it when you come to Tanjoji Temple. The land along the cove of these two islands, Obenten and Kobenten, is said to be the birthplace of Saint Nichiren. Benten is enshrined on both islands. A popular long-established inn founded 180 years ago, where all rooms have ocean views and you can enjoy hot springs from the hotel's own source and delicious food [Hamabe no Yu Roman no Uta Yado Nakaya] I stayed in a corner room of the Western-style luxury sunset deluxe twin "Umibe no Machi" with a half open-air bath with natural hot spring water. The view from the room was like being in a painting, and the sunset was especially beautiful, and I could watch it while looking at the calm Kamogawa sea ♡ The hot spring water quality was good, with a pH of 8.8, and my skin was smooth. The Simmons bed was also very comfortable, with plenty of fabric, a desk and a bar corner, and it was clean, spacious and comfortable. The meals were luxurious both in the morning and evening, and the famous dinner "Iso Kaiseki" was a gem of a dish made by the chef who won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award. The luxurious dishes used local ingredients such as spiny lobster and abalone were delicious and I was so happy because I love fish and Japanese food! The Boso hijiki and handmade tofu for breakfast were also excellent and I enjoyed them very much. The hotel is equipped with a lounge, large communal bath, private bath, and pool (only open in summer). There are also live mini concerts in the evening, so the facilities are well-equipped. #cherryblossom25 🌸 Coming later this month: The early-blooming Kawazu Cherry Blossoms of southern Chiba! *All photos taken February 20, 2024* You may have recently seen the sakura forecasts which predict late-March as the best time to see cherry blossoms around Tokyo. What you won’t see in those official predictions though are the peaks of early-blooming varieties of sakura, including the bright pink Kawazu cherry blossoms of Chiba. Kawazu cherry trees tend to bloom earliest on the southern end of the Chiba peninsula, and these are two spots we checked out last February that we'd like to recommend to you. Please keep in mind, these spots are a bit off the beaten path, so we'd recommend visiting them by car. 🌸 About: While only a pair of Kawazu cherry trees stand beside the main hall of Tanjo-ji Temple, it still makes for one of our favorite hidden gem spring spots. This is due to its laid back seaside location and deep historic significance connected to the birth of Holy Priest Nichiren, the founder of Nichiren Buddhism.

Tai no Ura, within walking distance from Awa-Kominato Station in Chiba Prefecture, is famous for being able to see schools of sea bream! There are also sightseeing boats where you can scatter bait from the boat and watch the sea bream swim on the surface of the water, making it a recommended spot for sightseeing in Chiba in the summer.
