Each and all aquariums were amazingly designed and decorated. There was a section for jelly fish and the lighting effect made the whole area so magical. You can see jelly fish dancing gracefully in the tanks with changing colours. There are some unique sea creatures like Spotted Garden Eel “Heteroconger hassi” that live on sandy bottoms, they look so cute! Other than that, I was amazed by the open living area of little penguins. Visitors can get so close to them, basically the penguins just like swimming in front of you. Same for fur seals. I also like the Japanese goldfish exhibition section, artistic and incorporated Japanese art, now I understand why goldfish remain a central element in popular culture and art in modern Japan. There is a café serving drinks and some light food. I ordered the seasonal blue ocean-like cocktail, it tasted good and was beautiful. The colour blended so well with the aquarium. As it's an aquarium inside a building, you can go around in about 1-2 hours. You can make a reservation online, so I recommend making a reservation in advance. It's a small aquarium, but it's very popular and there's always a line at the ticket booth. The Sumida Aquarium is a must stop if you are visiting Tokyo with small children, it’s an amazing family friendly experiences that gives you a glimpse of the wonders in the deep blue sea. It is located in the base of the Tokyo Skytree and you can access it from the giant mall that anchors them both, the two nearest metro stations both have signage for the aquarium and the sky tree. I bought my ticket as a combo with the skytree and given it’s urban location I went in with pretty low expectations, safe to say I was blown away! It was amazing, a well thought-out aquarium both visually and educationally. It has a wide range of underwater creates and enough information to help you fully understand their habitat, food chain and history. It’s also an incredible place to visit if you have children that are very driven by sensory stimulation, the use of lights in particular I found very calming but engaging. The aquarium follows a walk through layout and you meander through the smaller exhibits between the larger tanks, the main ones being the tank with the shark and the penguin experience. MY favourite area by far was the jellyfish corridor, hundreds of stunning jellyfish of all different shapes, sizes and colours moving in a huge swarm. I am at Exit A18. There is a large Lawson downstairs, very convenient, and there is also a supermarket nearby It takes 5-10 minutes to walk to Asakusa, and there are many shops and famous stores on the road (5 minutes to Aoi Maru) You can take pictures of the big Skytree at the intersection, and it takes 10-15 minutes to walk to the Skytree. I recommend Tokyo accommodation. It is the same size as usual, but clean and comfortable. You can store your luggage. The value CP is matched with the location and service. Went to the aquarium on a whim as we were stuck indoors due to the rain. The place is not too big or small (spent about 2 - 3 hours there), was well maintained, and staff were kind. Had a good variety of creatures on display. The jelly fish exhibit was gorgeous and very interesting! Tickets cost 2300 Yen for adults. Good place to spend some time. Easy to get to, just beside Tokyo Skytree. The nearby mall Tokyo Solamachi also had many interesting shops and delicious food! #japan #tokyo
