Shiragone Blue pond on the rainy day...There were lots of tourists.. The small cafe at the entrance where you can buy blue ice cream, soda and pudding. There is a parking lot at ¥500.

#thingstodo Beautiful and worth a visit, however, keep in mind that its probably the best if it is sunny and not too cloudy. If you are dependent on public transportation take attention to the bus schedule from Asahikawa to the Blue Pond. It takes a while and not too many rides go per day. If you go, combine it with a nice hike and the Shirahige Waterfall.

#2024wish Very picturesque pond. The blue colour is the result of minerals present in the water interacting with sunlight. The pond is surprisingly close to the parking lot. Go up to the left (past the ice cream stand) to reach the best photo spot immediately. Going up the walkway to the right is not worth the effort as the path is narrow and muddy and the view isn't very nice.

[Hokkaido] Drive to Furano and Biei 🚗

I went on a trip to Furano, Biei, and Mt. Tokachi in Hokkaido. The Blue Pond was a fantastic sight, reflecting the emerald light. There were also many Korean visitors from overseas. It was very popular, as expected of Hokkaido! After that, we walked to the entrance to Mt. Tokachi, which was nearby. It was very impressive, as it is still an active volcano. For lunch, we went to a Genghis Khan restaurant attached to a nearby campsite. It was very popular, even though it was a weekday. The Genghis Khan had no unpleasant smell and was great! Finally, we went to Biei's Colorful Hills. Here, you can enjoy the majestic land of Hokkaido, with flower fields all around! #besttrip2023

Shirogane Blue Pond

#weekendgetaways It was a cool pond to see, and the color of the water (brightness of the blue) is dependent on the weather more then anything. Not much else in the area, and a 500¥ parking cost. Souvenir shop was there with some unique gifts. I would revisit to see it in winter, but nothing more. then you can also reach the waterfall and Onsen, I think the exit queue from the parking lot took longer than our walk along the pond.

The blue water is an effect of the aluminum that has seeped into the water and reflected from the sunlight. Recommended for a nice quick visit for some photography opportunities. Well, you don't have to think or dream about it as there are 2 places where you can see this in Biei, Hokkaido and they are popular visiting spots. The first is called shirogane blue pond where the water in the pond is phenomenally blue and with the blue skies above, it's such a beauty from nature. At shirogane blue pond, you just have to be careful there as there are no proper concrete pavements and you just have to hike through small paths that shares with trees and there's no proper fencing as well. Otherwise, it's still a breathtaking blue pond as it is too beautiful! The other place with blue waters in Biei is called the Shirahige waterfall, where the water looks cool and refreshing. But that's not all the cascading water turns blue as it hits the bottom of the waterfall. Such an amazing beauty! Visit these 2 places when you're in Biei, you don't want to miss it.

I wasn't expecting much before I went, as I read how weather conditions could easily ruin our chances of seeing the perfect blue. But I was totally blown away when we reached the pond, as I never expected the blue could be so beautiful. Although this place is often swarmed with tourists, it is still a must visit if you are already making a trip down to Biei. It is a one-way path around one side of the pond, so there won't be any reverse human traffic happening. There are still plenty of spots for you to take photos without being photo-bombed. Do go all the way to the end though you get to see the blue pond ending on your right and there's lovely autumn foliage on the hill right in front of you. #givethanks #givethanks

Been here for the summer and winter View but winter can't see much except snow all over the pond.. There's a stream at the end where you can take some nice pictures.
