💞Reasons why we recommend it: In Setagaya Ward, Okamoto Park Minkaen and Jidayubori Park Minkaen are open to the public.
Opened in December 1980, Okamoto Park Folk House Garden has relocated and restored the main house of the former Nagasaki family residence, a storehouse, and a Wankimon gate, which were designated the ward's first tangible cultural property, to recreate a typical farmhouse from around the early Showa period.
Like the Jidayubori Park Folk House Garden, which opened in November 1988, this cultural property old folk house is open to the public. It is displayed as a farmhouse by lighting a fire in a stove or hearth and displaying old farm tools and household items that were used in the ward.
In addition, events are held to help visitors learn about rural life and deepen their understanding of history and culture through exhibitions and commentary sessions such as "Theme Exhibitions" and "How to See Folk Houses," "Seasonal Life," which recreates the livelihoods and customs of farmers, and demonstrations and experiences of traditional crafts such as indigo dyeing, blacksmithing, and weaving by volunteers.

『💞Reasons for recommendation: Okamoto Seikado Green Space is located in Okamoto 2-chome, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, and was once managed as a garden for the Iwasaki family, founders of the Mitsubishi zaibatsu. The Iwasaki Family Mausoleum is located within the green space, and was built as a ossuary by Iwasaki Koyata when Iwasaki Yanosuke died. It was designed by Josiah Conder, known for Nikolai Cathedral and other buildings. ”
