Let’s go outside to visit Ritan Park together
It’s a beautiful sunny summer day and that means today it’s a perfect day to visit Beijing’s Ritan Park.
Ritan Park is special due to its landscape and architecture. It is a perfect Asian oasis with one of its kind rock formations, paths and gazebos.
Ritan Park used to be a temple complex dated back to 16th century. And now it is opened for the public to enjoy.
🍲 Restaurants - There are a few cozy cafes in the park itself. I recommend visiting Stone Boat Cafe because it is very cute and it is located right on the lake.
🚕 Getting there - I always get around Beijing by DiDi taxis or public transport. Ritan Park is located just 10 minutes drive away from the Forbidden City.
⛩ Attractions - Walking around the park, taking photos, visiting temples, lakes, rock formations and enjoying the day.
Visit Ritan Park next time you are visiting beautiful Beijing and enjoy 😊

Cheaper than a canteen!! Had Hunan cuisine for 30 yuan per person in Beijing.
📍 Yu Jing Xiang (Ritan Branch)
A surprisingly great little restaurant!!
My friend and I wanted to eat something after drinking.
We were planning to just have some noodles 🍜.
Then we found a 60-yuan set meal for two nearby 😱.
I thought it was a small street stall,
but it turned out to be a nice, large, two-story restaurant,
with private rooms and birthday decorations 🥹.
The price is cheaper than a canteen in Beijing,
and all the dishes are freshly cooked! Very reassuring.
There are many set meals to choose from 🥳.
1️⃣ Hunan-style stir-fried dish (choose 1 of 4) 👇
Chicken giblets 🐓, Hunan-style stir-fried pork 🥩, stir-fried preserved meat 🍗, or braised meat

Ritan Park.
Ritan was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshiped the God of the Sun. It was built in the ninth year of the Jiajing period of the Ming dynasty (1530) and is square in shape. In the southeast corner of the park is Shengchun Garden, which covers an area of 10,000 square meters and has a winding pond in the middle. In the pond is a pair of stone-carved swans, one of which is a stone that sprays water upwards. On the small hill in the southeast of the garden is Qinghui Pavilion, and on the south side is Huaguo Garden. In the northwest corner is the tomb of martyr Ma Jun. Because the park is located in the embassy district, it has become a place where diplomats from various countries like to visit.
The altar faces west and is a square platform made of white stone. The altar surface was made of red glazed tiles in the Ming dynasty to symbolize the sun, and was changed to square bricks in the Qing dynasty. There is a short wall around the altar, and three white stone Lingxing gates in the west. Outside the west gate are a stove and a pool. To the north are the God Storehouse, God Kitchen, Sacrificial Pavilion, Bell Tower, etc. To the south is the Dressing Hall. In the seventh year of the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty (1742), it was rebuilt in the northwest corner of the altar. Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, most of the ancient buildings were destroyed and cultural relics were stolen, turning Ritan into a ruin.
In 1951, the Beijing Municipal People's Government expanded Ritan into Ritan Park, which covers an area of more than 20 hectares. The south and north gates and exhibition windows were built, as well as the Peony Garden, Qinghui Pavilion, Shengchun Garden, "Sacrifice to the Sun" mural, the ancient and elegant "Yihe Yaju," the classical southwest scenic area with beautiful mountains and rivers, the gallery, etc. The demolished altar was restored. The memorial room of the tomb of martyr Ma Jun was rebuilt, and a large amusement center was added.

Golden Autumn Garden Party, Ritan Park, Beijing.
Beijing Ritan Park is one of the five royal gardens in Beijing. The five gardens are the Altar of Heaven, Altar of Earth, Altar of Sun, Altar of Moon, and Altar of Agriculture. During this year's National Day holiday, Ritan Park is hosting a Golden Autumn Garden Party. The forest trail is decorated with colorful lights. The butterfly and dragonfly lights can even fly, making them perfect for photos. The chrysanthemum valley on the hillside is a major highlight. The small chrysanthemums are in full bloom all over the hillside, like a colorful carpet. There are Peking Opera performances in front of the sacrificial day mural, which have been well received by the audience. The food street under the colorful lights has a variety of food stalls offering local and foreign specialties, from tanghulu to Turkish ice cream. It is said that there are also parades and performances during the day. You can enjoy the flowers during the day and the lights at night. There is a fantastic light show at the Circular Mound Altar at night. Admission to Ritan Park is free, but you need to buy a ticket to enter the Circular Mound Altar to watch the light show at night. Temple of the Sun, A Blend of Nature and History of 495 years
#chinatrip
Temple of the Sun, also known as Ritan Park, nestled in the heart of Beijing is really a historical gem dating back to the Ming Dynasty about 495 years ago.
This is the place where ancient emperors from Qing and Ming Dynasty worshipped and offer sacrifices to the God of Sun. And today, it stands as a serene escape from the bustling city, offering visitors a glimpse into ancient Chinese culture and China history.
This place is so beautifully landscaped during our visit in the month of May. While we stroll the winding pathways through the lush gardens, our hearts flattered when we see those vibrant flowers that elegantly blend in with the traditional architecture.
Besides the North and West Heavenly Gate, the park also offers other attractions such as the Altar, the Slaughter Pavilion, Divine Depot and Kitchen, Sacrificial Mural, Dressing Hall, Yi in Garden, Peony Gardens, China Rose in Round Ponds and few more.
Make sure you have enough memory storage on your phone or camera as every attractions of the park are so picturesque. Many tourists especially young families and ladies even take the opportunity to rent the traditional costumes to take photos with such beautiful and elegant background. I am sure those photos will definitely turned up wonderfully.
It is not difficult to get here by public transportation but it be be quite crowded during holidays or weekends so ensure to plan your trip well.

Strolling Ritan Park, A Haven of Natural Beauty
#familytrips2024
Visiting Beijing in mid May is a best period to enjoy the vibrant floral that blooms everywhere around the city.
My mum and aunty were extremely excited everytime they see the huge roses along the streets. So I decided to bring them to Ritan Park (日坛), which means Temple of the Sun in Chinese. This is where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasty performed sacrifices to the sun deity.
The park was said to be constructed in 1530 during the Ming Dynasty. The Central feature of the park is the Altar of the Sun. The altar is surrounded by pine trees and traditional Chinese architecture, enhancing it's historical ambience.
The park is about 20 hectares, and is meticulously landscaped with variety of flora, including ancient pine trees, ornamental flowers and seasonal blooms. Strolling around you will walk through the gardens, leading to tranquil ponds, rockeries and pavilions. Every part in the park especially the main pond is a photographic.
Ritan Park attracts both locals and tourists seeking for leisure and recreation. You'll find groups practising tai chi, dancing, singing, or exercising, reflecting the park's role as a community hub. And there is also a huge children playground! This is really interesting.
While my mum and aunty immersed themselves into the garden of huge roses, I walk around to explore more about the park. There is also a Fishing Area, Rock Climbing activities and Open-Air Tea Houses. The park is very well maintained.
The locals says that Ritan Park often hosts cultural events and festivals, particularly during the Chinese New Year and other traditional holidays. Many performances are organised such as lantarn displays, and various cultural activities that offer a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions and community spirit.
Ritan Park is located at Ritan North Road of Chaoyang District Beijing. It opens everyday from as early as 6am-9pm. There is no admission fee to enter the park. Getting there is not difficult as there are several bus routes servicing the area and also subway station nearby.
Ritan Park is definitely worth the visit if you are in Beijing. It is a park blend of history, culture and natural beauty, providing a peaceful retreat and a glimpse into Beijing imperial past.

Follow the spring appreciation map to tour Ritan Park
Ritan Park, you really have a blast playing there! Ever since the inaugural Chaoyang Garden Festival opened in Ritan Park, the number of visitors has significantly increased. Every time I go there for a run, I can see enthusiasts carrying photography equipment, and some people come here following the flower appreciation map according to the blooming seasons. The circular altar built in 1530 during the Ming Dynasty is surrounded by red walls, creating a unique photographic effect. The sun-worshipping murals are also a unique landscape of Ritan, depicting the scenes of our ancestors worshipping the sun; the background of Qu Chi Sheng Chun Yuan is the landmark building of Beijing, the China Zun, as if there is a sense of time travel. The children's playground and fitness trail further highlight that the former royal grounds have now truly become a park for the people.

The season of dancing with flowers
Ritan Park, you really have a blast with the flowers! Every year, during March and April, Beijing becomes the most colorful season, because in the short spring of the north, all the splendid flowers rush to bloom brilliantly in their lives. Ritan Park not only provides such a place but also offers such a ceremony on the day of the Vernal Equinox. Thus, the flower fairies start their grand show of 'after you sing, I take the stage,' delighting and refreshing all onlookers. Watching the aunties dancing among the flowers in the park, the uncles playing with the dragon dance, full of energy and vigor, don't you feel that youth seems to be prolonged, just like this spring?

The early spring sun shines, making the flowers look almost red with brightness
The Ritan Park is where you've had a splendid time! As the venue for the opening ceremony of the first Garden Festival in Chaoyang District, Ritan Park has been decorated with dreamlike floral arrangements representing each month's seasonal flowers since the day of the Spring Equinox. Visitors flock to the park, eager to check in and take photos. What's especially heartwarming is that each setting is themed around the seasonal flowers of a particular park for each month, providing educational information about flower appreciation, which is both enlightening and meaningful.

Beijing is truly magnificent, and Ritan Park is so beautiful!
So many people!
And there are so many people around the giant bouquet!
It's almost embarrassing to take photos...
Although they are pretty, they are not real flowers, just saying.
But luckily, Ritan Park itself is quite nice to stroll around.
In spring, the trees are shady, the water is clear, and the sky is blue with white clouds.
Magnolia, peach blossoms, and forsythia are all in bloom.
The ancient-style pavilions and the distant modern buildings complement each other interestingly.

The Chaoyang Garden Festival and Vernal Equinox Cultural Festival at Ritan Park
Yesterday, 3.20, was the day of the Vernal Equinox in the lunar calendar, and Ritan Park was even more bustling than a temple fair. The first Beijing Chaoyang Garden Festival and the seventeenth Vernal Equinox Chaoyang Cultural Festival kicked off at Ritan Park. Besides the opening ceremony at the Round Altar at nine in the morning, which required tickets for entry, all activities at the main venue and throughout the park were free of charge after ten o'clock. Parks across the Chaoyang District had flower bed displays, and despite the season still being a mix of warm and cold, most were decorated with fresh flowers. Along the red walls in the park, there was a large-scale Spring Festival cultural market. Starting at ten o'clock, there were performances on the central stage, as well as surrounding activities such as lion dancing, wrestling, and community dance team performances. In the past, Ritan Park's Vernal Equinox events were generally antique sacrificial performances to the heavens. This year's Vernal Equinox has incorporated more green landscaping activities, promoting traditional Chinese culture and intangible cultural heritage, attracting a large number of residents and tourists to participate.
Ritan Park, in ancient times, was the place where emperors worshipped the sun god on the day of the Vernal Equinox. Historical records show that during the Ming dynasty's Longqing and Chongzhen reigns, and the Qing dynasty's Qianlong, Jiaqing, and Daoguang reigns, emperors personally offered sacrifices at Ritan. The Chaoyang Garden Festival and Vernal Equinox Cultural Festival at Ritan Park will continue until the end of March. Ritan Park has no admission fee and is located near Jianguomen.

The autumn atmosphere is strong in Ritan Park
Ritan Park is located in the CBD area of Beijing, and it is connected with the embassy area to form a beautiful autumn scene. This is not a must-visit spot for tour groups, but a good place for local residents to exercise and nearby white-collar workers to enjoy their lunch and appreciate the autumn scenery. The ginkgo leaves on Ginkgo Avenue have begun to turn yellow, with rich colors, and it is estimated that they will all turn golden in about a week. The ginkgo leaves on the high places have also turned golden, which is particularly beautiful under the blue sky and white clouds. The willow leaves by the water have also turned slightly yellow, forming a very comfortable autumn scene. Ritan Park is not big, and it can be visited in about an hour. Coming out of the south gate, walking or cycling along the embassy area is also a very good enjoyment. Transportation: Yonganli Station of Subway Line 1, exit in the direction of Xiushui Street (seems to be Exit B), walk to Jianhua South Road, about 800 meters.

Beijing Ritan Park, along with the Temple of Heaven, the Ditan and the Moon Altar, are the places where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties sacrificed the Sun of the god of the Ming Dynasty. The overall scale is much smaller than that of the Temple of Heaven, so few tourists visit it. The park is free of charge. It is almost the people around here.
But park management is not bad at all.
After years of operation, the park has Peony Garden, Qinghui Pavilion, Quchi Shengchun Garden, Holiday murals, quaint Yihe Yaju, classical southwest scenic spots, galleries, etc. . The South Gate enters, facing the "Festival of the Day" murals, not only residents in the square, but also foreign friends who work in the embassy area.
From the south gate to the west, it is the southwestern scenic spot of the Suntan, especially the first generation of the Minamata. There are ponds with promenades and mountains and rocks, which are built according to the style of Jiangnan gardens.
Before and after the summer, the lotus in the pool was opened. After a long distance, I saw a pink flower on the green lotus leaf as big as the child's head. Hurry and rush, past, this big piece.
The stone around the otter, the drop from the lotus pond is very small, the lotus just grows to the height of the person, and the lotus is at your fingertips. In the pool, the colors of the lotus flowers are not the same, there are white as snow, light pink like a girl's cheek, purple as the west side of the evening glow. From the deep high in the pool, the tall flower buds, looked up and up, gradually opened, revealing the yellow stamens in the heart, and the tender lotus. Mature, large petals fall, the lotus becomes dark green, and the lotus seeds mature.
