Life advice: experience a sunset roller coaster ride in Hong Kong at least once
⭐ After visiting Hong Kong multiple times, I've discovered many hidden gems of activities. From the panoramic crystal cable car that spans mountains and seas to the sunset roller coaster that leads to the seaside, and the secluded life in a small fishing village, each spot has healed my soul.
⭐ If you have the chance to visit Hong Kong, be sure to set aside a day to experience the beauty of Hong Kong Island. Not only is there a rich cultural history, but there are also countless beautiful sights waiting for you.
✅ About the Sunset Bus
The Sunset Bus is an open-top sightseeing bus that used to only be available in the city, but now it's also on Lantau Island. Sitting on the bus chasing the sunset, watching the sun slowly set from the sea level, and occasionally seeing planes pass by, it's super like playing the sunset roller coaster in 'Grand Theft Auto', so beautiful it's moving 😭.
【Bus Route: Starting point Ngong Ping 360→Disney→11SKIES→Airport Maintenance Area→Ngong Ping 360】
🔸 For those who want to watch the sunset, remember to take the 16:30 bus, departing after purchasing tickets at Ngong Ping 360. When the bus reaches the Airport Maintenance Area, it's the most beautiful moment of the sunset.
✅ One-Day Tour Recommendation
The attractions are all near Ngong Ping 360, take the cable car to the mountaintop in the morning (a panoramic crystal cable car that spans the sea and mountains, the whole journey is 25 minutes, very spectacular, every frame is like a blockbuster). There are markets, Po Lin Monastery, and the Big Buddha on the mountaintop, all worth a visit.
🔸 At noon, you can take a 7-dollar bus to Tai O fishing village (a small fishing village built on river water, known as the 'Venice of Hong Kong')
🔸 In the evening, you can take a sightseeing car at the cable car place to chase a sunset at sea, be sure to take the 16:30 bus.
🕰 Route Recommendation
Ngong Ping 360 Crystal Cable Car→Ngong Ping Market→Big Buddha→Tai O Fishing Village→Panoramic Cable Car Return Trip→Sunset Bus🚌
📍 Address: Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car
🚇 Subway: Tung Chung Station Exit B, a 3-minute walk away
✅ Travel Tips
1⃣ Be sure to arrive at the cable car station before 10:00 in the morning, after 10 o'clock it gets very crowded. Make sure to get back down the mountain before 4:00 in the afternoon to catch the 4:30 sunset bus.
2⃣ The cable car journey is 20 minutes, with 3 options (standard, crystal, and panoramic cable cars), I suggest taking the crystal cable car up the mountain and the panoramic cable car down. If you don't plan to take the sunset sightseeing bus, you can also choose the 17:00 cable car to watch the sunset.
3⃣ Purchase tickets 3 days in advance, make a reservation 1 day in advance, and exchange for a paper ticket on-site to take the cable car up the mountain. Be sure to confirm ticket information with the staff on-site to avoid queuing in the wrong line and wasting time. For the sightseeing car, there is no need to exchange for a paper ticket, just show the QR code to board.
If there's anything else you don't understand, feel free to tell me in the comments!

The Po Lin Monastery is a peace of peace and serenity.
The first thing you would notice about the monastery is its elaborate, traditional architecture, notice the decor, which comprises dragons, phoenixes and other animal designs.
The monastery was founded in 1906 by three monks visiting from Jiangsu Province on the Chinese mainland and was initially known simply as "The Big Hut".

Po Lin Monastery in Lantau Island, Hong Kong.
The monastery symbolises the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and faith. The main temple houses three bronze statues of the Buddha – representing his past, present and future lives – as well as many Buddhist scriptures.
Hong Kong is a truly fascinating city, where the East meets West. You will be amazed by the architecture and the tall skyscrapers dominating the landscape; astonished by the contrasting views and landscapes of the different islands and will certainly enjoy the variety of food the city has to offer.
Hong Kong has a little bit of everything to offer – from amazing architecture, pristine beaches, spectacular islands, and traditional villages. The city is busy during the day with a bustling nightlife all week round. Plenty of things to do and see during your stay there.

The monastery is a substantial complex, spaciously laid out. The giant Buddha statue, up 250 steps, is part of the complex. The monastery itself has a number of elements for devotion and for the monks'. There is a good, simple vegetarian restaurant in the grounds of the monastery.

Explosive! Are you ready to scream on the Hong Kong Panoramic Cable Car tour?
🌈Hey friends, I'm here to share an explosive trip to Hong Kong! This time it's not about the bustling cityscape, but a mesmerizing panoramic cable car experience that will captivate your heart! 🌟
🙆♂️Did you know? Having been to Hong Kong more than a dozen times, I was finally convinced by a friend to try a super niche route on Lantau Island, and it's simply beautiful enough to make you cry! Especially that 360-degree panoramic transparent cable car, I shouted 'So cool!' as soon as I got on.
🚄Transportation tip: Take the high-speed train directly to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, or cross the border via Shenzhen Metro, then transfer to the Tung Chung Line of the MTR to Exit B at Tung Chung Station, and the S1 bus will take you to the cable car station. If you're taking a taxi, it's only a 5-minute ride from Hong Kong Airport!
🚠Cable car choice? 🤔Of course, the panoramic cabin! Although there's a queue (I went on the weekend and waited for about 40 minutes), sitting in the cabin, you feel like the whole world is beneath your feet, it's so stunning!
🎉Itinerary recommendation: Crystal Cable Car → Ngong Ping Market → Po Lin Monastery → Big Buddha → Heart Sutra Woods → Tai O → Panoramic Cable Car return trip! Don't forget to buy the Tai O Pass, it's super value and convenient!
📍Here come the attraction introductions!
✅Ngong Ping Market: Take photos with the graffiti wall and cable car cabins, with a high success rate! You can also have lunch here!
✅Po Lin Monastery: Feels like a mini Forbidden City, the Great Hall is super spectacular!
✅Big Buddha: Filming location for the movie 'Infernal Affairs', solemn and majestic, the play of light and shadow under the sun is so poetic!
✅Heart Sutra Woods: A large outdoor wood carving group, when viewed from above, forms an endless shape, so unique!
✅Tai O Fishing Village: A tranquil and leisurely fishing village, known as the 'Venice of Hong Kong', a popular weekend getaway for locals!
✅Tai O Lantau Peak: Easy to climb to the top, overlooking the beautiful sea sunset, it's like the 'Jeju Island of Hong Kong'!

Polin Monastery
Beside from Tian tan Buddha, I also Visit Po Lin Monastery nearby. In Hong Kong It is a
remarkable experience that left a lasting impression for me. I first visited this massive temple
years ago, and over the years, it has become a bustling hub, which have Ngong Ping Cable car
that attract many tourist
Nestled on a colorful hillside, the monastery is home to the iconic 34-meter bronze Tian Tan
Buddha statue, attracting tourists from around the world. During my visit in December, the cool
weather made exploring the monastery grounds comfortable.
I also had the opportunity to explore the adjacent temple, which houses numerous Buddha
statues and offers delicious vegetarian food for purchase. The monastery's grandeur and ornate
architecture were truly captivating, and spending several hours immersing myself in its splendor.
I wish to visit here again as learning the culture was a rewarding experience

Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha
Taking the Ngong Ping 360 cable car up the mountain, passing through the Ngong Ping Market, you will arrive at Ngong Ping Piazza. The cattle roaming leisurely on the plaza are very gentle and live harmoniously with people. To the right front is the majestic Tian Tan Buddha, one of the iconic structures of Hong Kong. The Buddha statue sits atop 268 stone steps, perched on the Muk Yue Peak of Lantau Island. Pilgrims from all over gather at the stone steps beneath the Tian Tan Buddha. Climbing the 268 steps, we embark on a journey to cleanse our souls, pray sincerely, and the close-up view of the world's largest outdoor seated Buddha is also a visual treat. Po Lin Monastery is located opposite the Tian Tan Buddha, with a grand presence that naturally evokes a sense of solemnity and reverence as one approaches this sacred place. 📷Recommended check-in position:
1️⃣Ngong Ping Market
You can take photos with the cable car by the wall, or go to the other side to shoot the graffiti wall and the cable car, which is also very good
.
2️⃣Po Lin Monastery, Ten Thousand Buddha Hall
The architectural style of Po Lin Monastery and Ten Thousand Buddha Hall is very similar to the Forbidden City, and it is worthy of the name "Little Forbidden City". You can stand on the steps to shoot, you can sit and interact with friends, capture natural moments. You can also get close to the incense ash stove outside the hall, use the frame of the stove as the foreground, and take a centered composition to shoot the Daxiong Hall. This position is very advanced!
.
3️⃣Tian Tan Buddha
The location of "Infernal Affairs", if you don't want to take a rigid "Big Buddha", you can stand in the square at the foot of the mountain to take pictures with the Big Buddha
.
4️⃣Heart Sutra Simplicity Forest
The backlight shooting of the Heart Sutra Simplicity Forest at four or five o'clock is too beautiful! When the light penetrates the clothes and umbrella, the whole person is like glowing, very feeling!
The Heart Sutra Simplicity Forest is a bit far away, and you can see the entrance after a 15-minute walk from the Po Lin Zen Room
5️⃣Panoramic Cable Car
One of the top ten best cable cars in the world, 360° panoramic view without obstruction, you can see the mountains and seas under your feet, Lantau Island, Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and other scenery are unobstructed, you can sit down and let your buddies take a wide-angle shot for you! At sunset, the sun slowly sets, and watching the sunset on the cable car is simply too beautiful, don't miss it!
⚠️Shooting tips:
1. The entire route is very rich, suitable for a day trip, there are many snacks in the Ngong Ping Market,
2. Check in with Hanfu, the photos are very good, and the scene is more harmonious!
3. Cable car operation time: 10:00-18:00

Bored Apes visit Big Buddha
During ApeFest 2023 I decided to extend my trip a couple extra days to explore Hong Kong. We went a little off the beaten trail, however, the Po Lin Monastery is an extremely popular location for visitors. Very tourist friendly environment with unlimited photo opportunities, extremely spiritual, and overall a refreshing location to spend some time. Even a few hours up here provides an amazing sense of tranquility which may truly help you to reset. #hongkong #BoredApe

Inside the monastery halls, you'll discover traditional restaurants that exclusively serve vegetarian options. This is not just a tourist attraction; it's a working monastery and a holy site. The serenity that envelopes this mountain monastery is truly remarkable.
Dining within the monastery's halls adds to the authenticity of the experience, especially for those with an appreciation for vegetarian cuisine.

Vegetarian Meal
Po Lin Monastery, Ngong Ping Road, Lantau (The vegetarian kitchen is on the left of the Main Shrine Hall)
Every time we fly to Hong Kong, we will go to the po lin monastery to have our vegetarian meal. There are two options to choose. The general meal and the premium meal. The price per person for the general meal is 108 HKD and the premium meal cost 138 HKD per person. We opted for the cheaper option, to have the general meal.
We enjoyed the meal. We had a very fulfilling lunch with them. The vegetables were very green. My favourite would be the crispy spring rolls. I also liked their beancurd with the green peas and corns. The tofu was silky and soft in texture. The soup was very nourishing and flavorful. It is a great soup to improve our immunity. Do try it out when you are at Hong Kong.
