As I stepped out the door and looked back at this temple of science, my heart was filled with a longing for the future and a desire for exploration. Stepping into the Osaka Science Museum feels like entering a realm of cosmic exploration. The star-themed design of the museum instantly immerses visitors in the charm of the fusion between technology and nature. In the interactive exhibition hall on the first floor, children excitedly operate energy simulation devices, their enthusiasm contagious to every visitor. Meanwhile, I was captivated by the multimedia display on the origins of the universe, as if I were witnessing the silent birth of the stars. The highlight of this journey is the planetarium on the second floor. The enormous dome screen slowly unveils the starry sky, narrating the stories of constellations. When a meteor streaks across the sky, the entire audience holds their breath in unison, as if grasping a distant star. The scientific explanations are precise and engaging, taking us on a journey through the Milky Way and revealing the mysteries of the boundless universe. Leaving the science museum, my heart is filled with a longing and reverence for the unknown. This was not just a scientific journey but also a spiritual enlightenment, making me realize the infinite possibilities of human exploration of the universe and the greatness of life itself.

On my recent trip to Osaka I was looking for more unique things to do, that are often not at the top of everyone’s list of must-see things. I decided to go further North of the downtown area and discovered Nakanoshima. In middle of the Okawa River is a sandbank piece of land that has many museums. Nakanoshima is a beautiful island in the city where cultural, political and business facilities are concentrated. The three kilometre island is home to some of Osaka’s best museums, restaurants and hotels. The science museum is located in Nakanoshima in the center of Osaka city. It is very convenient to get here by subway, consisting of an exhibition hall and a planetarium. The exhibition hall mainly displays pictures and instruments, with strong practical operation and interactivity; the planetarium is a dome theater, with lectures held irregularly. You can see that although some of the interactive items in the exhibition hall are a bit old, they do not affect their use at all. We arrived just before 10 am and saw staff checking the condition and functionality of each device. The main area is the exhibition hall, from the 1st to the 4th floor. After buying tickets on the basement floor, take the elevator straight to the fourth floor, and then visit each floor in descending order. The fourth floor mainly focuses on knowledge about the universe and the solar system; The third floor is about the materials of objects in nature; The second and first floors have practical interactive experiments, which children prefer. Currently, the planetarium has image explanations about the universe, the solar system, and Saturn. 🌹Visiting Tips: 1⃣️It is recommended to allocate about 3 hours to explore this place. 2⃣️There are no restaurants nearby, but there is a cafe inside the museum with simple meals. 3⃣️Many scientific lectures in the planetarium are in Japanese without translators, so it is not recommended for those who do not understand the language to buy tickets, as it can be quite confusing. 4⃣️The Osaka Municipal Science Museum is next to the Osaka National Museum of Art, so those interested in art can plan to visit both at the same time. ⏰Opening hours: 9:30-17:00, last admission at 16:30; closed on Mondays. 🎫Ticket prices: Free for elementary and middle school students, 500 yen for adults Planetarium, 600 yen for adults, 300 yen for elementary and middle school students and below.

Although it was my first time taking my child to Osaka, I discovered a hidden gem: the Osaka Science Museum. It is a fantastic place for both adults and children to enjoy! I must highly recommend it! The Osaka Science Museum focuses on astronomy and space, covering knowledge in astronomy, geography, mathematics, physics, chemistry, electricity, and more. It's truly a grand science classroom! The venue has four floors, enough to keep you and your child engaged for a whole day! Osaka Science Museum Osaka Science Museum 🚇Transportation: Search on Google Maps, take the JR and walk for 10 minutes after getting off. 🎫Tickets: Free for elementary and junior high school students🆓, adults: 400 yen. 🏠Admission: The entrance is on the B1 floor. After purchasing a ticket at the ticket counter, take the elevator directly to the 4th floor and start visiting from the top down. Suggested visiting time: 4-6 hours. I arrived with my child around 10 am and didn't leave until 4 pm, spending a full 6 hours immersed in the science museum, with lots to gain and still wanting more! 🍴☕️There are vending machines at the entrance of the science museum where you can buy water. For dining, there is a restaurant on the 1st floor of the museum, where you can have lunch. If you want to re-enter after lunch, just take your ticket back to the B1 entrance. 📣Personally tested and highly recommended, just as the slogan on the ticket says: It's interesting for both adults and children!

Easily spent 2 hours here. It's in Japanese but you will get through with google translate camera. Lots of school aged children, but it is interesting for adults as well. I love how inexpensive it is (400 yen for adults, 350 yen for high school students, free for middle school and under.) The planetarium has a separate fee, but it's worth the price. The planetarium that we watched was difficult for our elementary and middle school kids (English and Japanese bilingual) to understand in Japanese, and I wished they used easier terms for little kids or something. There is a lot of interaction and it is displayed in the way of children. It's a pity that the video hall is all in Japanese. Tourists only 320 yen, very cheap.
