As City mu
As City museums’ go this one is pretty good. It occupies 4 floors in a lovely modern building that overlooks Castle Park (so provides great views of the Castle). The entry fee is 600 Yen but discounted if you get a joint castle ticket. For an extra 200 Yen you can get an English audio guide which was great. The museum exhibits start on the 10th floor in the year of about 700 AD when the city was an early capital of Japan.

🇯🇵 Osaka Amazing Pass: How To Use In A Day
The Osaka Amazing Pass costs 3300 JPY (about 30 SGD) for one day, and 5500 JPY for two days. My friend and I got the one-day pass for my short trip to Osaka last October. These are the attractions we used it on, and I’ve got to say it was really worth it!
1️⃣ Osaka Castle 🏰
This is the main highlight of Osaka, and going inside would help you understand a lot about Osaka’s history, especially on the era of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. We wanted to take the boat (covered under the pass) going around the castle moat but unfortunately it rained.
2️⃣ Osaka Museum of History 📜
Right beside Osaka Castle is the history museum, and I would recommend coming here after visiting the castle. It is not very crowded and is a good place to relax.
3️⃣ Umeda Sky Building ☁️
We went up to the observation deck of the Umeda Sky Building, to see the skyline of Osaka. It was a great view and we spotted a few planes headed to or departed from Kansai Airport as well. The journey up and down had a very futuristic vibe to it.
4️⃣ Koji Kinutani Tenku Art Museum 🎭
This art museum is located downstairs of the Umeda Sky Building, in one of the tower blocks. This is definitely the unexpected highlight of the trip, as we saw many unconventional pieces of art there. There were many 3D visuals, showcasing the work of Koji Kinutani, a Japanese artist who studied in Italy and brought back an innovative and dynamic style.
5️⃣ Hep Five 🎡
Ended off the day at the Hep Five ferris wheel near Umeda station. Unfortunately it was raining so the views weren’t great.
Overall, the pass was worth it, especially in saving on transport costs. After all Japan has among the higher public transport fares in Asia, similar to Singapore and Hong Kong levels.

Footprints of Time, Pulses of the City
Day 1: Delving into the Depths of History
On this day, I visited the Osaka Museum of History, the best place to explore the city's history. The museum's architecture itself is impressive, a stunning blend of modern and classical styles. Stepping inside feels like entering a time tunnel, with each exhibit meticulously showcasing the pulse of the city from ancient times to modern development. The most impressive aspect of the museum is its visual effects, utilizing advanced technology to immerse visitors in Osaka's past and transformations. From traditional Japanese architecture to modern urban landscapes, each historical period has its own story. After visiting the section on Osaka Castle, I gained a deeper understanding of the city's significant role in Japanese history.
Day 2: Leisure Time at Osaka Castle Park
On the second day, I went to Osaka Castle Park, a place rich in historical background that serves as both a tourist attraction and a relaxation spot for locals. Entering the park, the magnificent Osaka Castle comes into view, its majestic architecture harmonizing with the lush greenery around it. Whether walking along the paths surrounding the castle or leisurely strolling by the lake, one can always feel the harmonious coexistence of the city's long history and natural scenery. The park is filled with diverse vegetation, with different flowers and trees adding various colors to the greenery as the seasons change. In this tranquil garden, I not only relaxed but also gained a deeper appreciation for the city's profound history.

A Journey Through Time at the Osaka Museum of History
Stepping into the Osaka Museum of History is like opening a thick book of time. The museum's exhibition halls are designed along a timeline, guiding visitors through a thousand years of Osaka's illustrious past.
The centerpiece of the museum is a grand reconstruction of the Naniwa Palace from the Nara period. The massive model showcases the majesty and grandeur of the ancient imperial palace, with intricate details that make you feel as if you are standing in the prosperous ancient capital. As you move along the path, the bustling scenes of the Edo period market come to life: wooden houses neatly lined up, and the faint sounds of vendors calling out their wares seem to echo in your ears. One of the exhibition halls uses modern technology to present the history of Osaka's development. Interactive multimedia screens bring ancient scrolls to life, from the construction of Osaka Castle to the flourishing water city, history unfolds in a vivid and captivating manner.
Standing at the top floor's observation window, you can overlook the modern cityscape, which contrasts and complements the historical memories within the museum. This place is not just a museum, but a microcosm of Osaka's soul. As you leave, your heart is filled with respect for the city's long history and anticipation for its future.

Footsteps Through Time: Strolling Through the Osaka Museum of History
Pushing open the doors of the Osaka Museum of History feels like stepping into a time travel journey. The museum's design is like a bridge intertwining the modern and the past, with each floor laid out along a timeline, narrating the history of Osaka.
Starting with the recreation of the ancient Naniwa Palace, I walked slowly through the replicated palace models. The intricate architectural details and vivid scene recreations made me feel as if I were in the bustling court of ancient times. As I ascended the floors, the exhibition gradually transitioned into the urban changes of modern Osaka, with street models, shop recreations, and even scenes from the Showa era, each detail telling stories of the era's transformations and people's lives.
Reaching the upper floors, the observation window offers a magnificent view of Osaka Castle, where the sediment of history and the prosperity of the present intertwine into a moving picture. Here, history is no longer cold text and artifacts but a series of living stories. The Osaka Museum of History opened a journey of soul-searching into the past for me, deepening my understanding of the city's soul and pulse.

Lesser-known attractions in Osaka! Osaka Museum of History
On the first day in Osaka, in order to avoid the crowd, I specifically went to a lesser-known attraction - the Osaka Museum of History.
There are two differences from domestic museums. 1, Japanese museums are not free, tickets are purchased at the front desk on the first floor. 2, Osaka Museum of History does not need to be reserved.
The Osaka Museum of History is next to Osaka Castle Park, which is an easily overlooked attraction.
Take the subway to Tanimachi 4-chome, and you will see the Osaka Museum of History and the NHK Osaka Broadcasting Bureau building when you come out.
The museum is not large, starting from the 10th floor, you can visit from top to bottom in turn, and you can overlook Osaka Castle Park at the corner of the stairs.
The museum fully introduces the development process of Osaka from the earliest Namba to becoming an international city step by step. Some exhibition halls also have children's archaeological interactions, and there are immersive restorations of ancient Osaka streets.
You can reserve 2 hours for a visit, or you can visit it on the same day as Osaka Castle Park.
