Tokyo’s most popular eating street in Shinjuku 🍱🍢🍡
Tokyo, Japan us know for amazing night life, buzzing city street & bright lights on modern sky scrapers.
📍 Omoide Yokocho, a popular tourist spot, is a maze of narrow alleyways on the West Exit of Shinjuku Station. It has a unique atmosphere, which is in stark contrast to modern Shinjuku.
Also known as Memory Lane, Omoide Yokocho is has packed with Japanese historic eateries and buzzing with energy. Eating at skewers at small stalls or indulge in Japanese cuisine while hanging out with family & friends at alley way is definitely a different experience.
Do expect crowded especially during tourist seasons & dinner time.

Food heaven!
I was recommended by a friend to come here for their food, it's a street full of small local bar bites ( Yakitori, sashimi, beer and etc...) However, most of the stalls are quite similar, normally the locals will come here to chill.
Oh yea, and most of the stalls here got no proper seats, you might need to stand to drink beer and eat yakitori! 😋😋 Is a good experience as well, worth trying!

Omoide Yokocho
Beautiful place! I always dreamed to visit this little spot. It's super crowded, of course, but it totally worth it.
I would say that a "con" is that most of restaurants serve yakitori, (and most of them are full), but it make sense, it should be "Sit, live the experience, leave your spot to next customer".
Food are good quality and prices are average.
In 2024 I wish to visit this place again.

The famous Omoide Yokocho
When to go? 8pm-early morning
Location: West Side of Shinjuku Station
Omoide Yokocho is a cramped space where you see rows of tiny restaurants, some of them just with a counter, some of them with only a couple of tables. There is not much space to walk in these narrow alleys, you better bring a small bag with you. There are seafood and grilled meat - the grilled chicken has many different parts available, kushiyaki food on sticks, ramen noodles, etc. In winter, you may enjoy oden (food in hot broth).
The prices are cheap and you can eat quickly. You can also have a bite here and there to try different foods but the places being really packed you may be unable to find a seat at another restaurant.
Note: Bring cash, not credit card
Anything travels
We accidentally found this beautiful alley Omoide Yokocho while strolling around shinjuku, the place is known to be called Memory Lane, popular name to tourist is PISS ALLEY because back in the days this alley had no toilet so drunk men pissed anywhere. If you like to drink while eating grilled meat on a stick cooked in charcoal (yakitori) this is the place. #wintergetaway
