Edogawa Ward's Children's Literature Museum! Magical Literature Museum
.
This time we will be introducing the Magical Literature Museum, the world view of the works of children's literature author Eiko Kadono!
.
The Magical Literature Museum is a building located in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo.
It is a children's literature museum that aims to make Eiko Kadono's works and achievements known to many people, as well as to become a place where children who will lead the future can become familiar with children's literature and develop rich imaginations!
.
The strawberry-colored "Koriko Town," the setting for "Kiki's Delivery Service," spreads out before you, and is full of fun gimmicks such as projection mapping projected onto the walls and the four-screen "Black Cat Theater"!
.
First, before you go inside!
The pure white building designed by Kengo Kuma, located on the hill of Nagisa Park,
allows you to enjoy the unique world view from the outside!
.
The Magical Literature Museum is roughly divided into 6 areas!
◇Library
◇Black Cat Theater
◇Eiko's Atelier
◇Gallery
◇Shop
◇Cafe Kiki
.
◇Library
A library surrounded by "house-shaped" bookshelves!
To encourage children's independence, children's books and picture books from around the world are arranged without classification!
.
◇Black Cat Theater
A hideaway-like theater with four screens at the end of the hallway!
You can experience interactive programs featuring "Ghost Atchi" and "Ringo-chan"!
By the way, the video progresses in response to the audience's voices and movements!
.
◇Eiko's Atelier
A corner modeled after Eiko's workspace!
Handwritten manuscripts, paints, and other stationery are placed on the desk, and the shelves are lined with favorite books and beautiful accessories collected on travels!
.
◇Gallery
A special exhibition on children's literature is held every six months!
Currently, the "Witch and Witch Exhibition" is being held!
.
◇Shop
There are lots of original goods that can only be found here, such as cute character goods and Eiko's favorite atelier coat!
.
◇Cafe Kiki
A cafe with a great view of the old Edogawa River!
You can enjoy the special menu that appears in Eiko's books!
.
※By the way, the Magical Literature Museum requires advance reservations!
And reservations are made by lottery, so it's not first come, first served!
.
The lottery results are notified by email at around 4pm two weeks before the desired date of your visit!
By the way, the competition is high, and I was rejected many times!
.
〇For those people, here's how to do it! ↓
After the lottery is over, if there are any cancellations or other reasons that leave room for more people, you can make a reservation on a first come, first served basis!
We applied the day before with this!
.
It's a children's literature museum, so there are lots of children!
Please be careful not to get in the way of the children or their parents!
