Travelling from Vienna to Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia, by train only takes an hour. Bought the one day Bratislava-Ticket via OEBB kiosk from Vienna train station.It would be cheaper to get there by bus, but we thought of its winter time and for the comfort of the journey with children travelling, we have chosen to get on the train instead. This day tickets also cover all the transportation in Bratislava. Once you get off the Bratislava train station, you can take bus 93 to the city centre, however we have chosen to walk. It's another gloomy day here, I just picked on the touristy spots from google maps (see photo I have attached too) and started the walking journey to the city. We passed by the 1. Mirbach Palace and just in time to see the guard changing ceremony. the walking continues 2. Church of the Annunciation 3. Primate's Palace 4. Old town hall we have a quick brunch at the Five Points Bistro 5. Michael’s Gate 6. Kápitulska Street 7. Pálffy Palace 8. St. Martin’s Cathedral 9. Medieval City Walls 10. House at the Good Shepherd 11. Bratislava Castle - from here you can have a view of the UFO bridge 12. Šafárikovo Square 13. Blue Church 14. The appearance of the castle and the surrounding scenery are beautiful enough. Be sure to go to the platform behind the castle! You can overlook the whole city and take photos of the UFO Tower and St. Martin's Cathedral. It is a great camera position. Station 2️⃣ St. Martin's Cathedral The tall spire with retro green and gold edges is very beautiful and free to enter Station 3️⃣ UFO Tower A viewing platform on the New Bridge, which looks like a UFO and is also a restaurant. There is a scenic spot called Medieval City Walls at the back door of St. Martin, which is the best camera position for UFOs. You can take a full-body photo of it from the front Station 4️⃣ Bratislava Old Town The old town is not big and is suitable for walking. There are many souvenir shops. The local refrigerator magnets are still very distinctive, and there are various Czech moles for sale ❶ Cumil Statue: A man with his head emerging from the sewer. 📌 Bratislava, Slovakia I recently found myself in the charming and cultivating capital of Slovakia... Bratislava. This is where culture meets architecture and here's why you should not overlook this peaceful city on your travels in Europe: ⛪ Head-turning architecture 🍽️ A surprisingly excellent food scene, there's something for everyone ⏱️ Steeped in history, this city is full of surprises 🧭 Ideal for a day trip for those visiting Vienna 💷 Budget friendly 🗓️ Here's how my day went: On a mild Sunday I took a bus from my accommodation in Vienna, Austria over the border and into Bratislava. 🚍 After a bus journey of around 45 minutes, I arrived to 'Most' bus stop, one of the main bus stop portals when arriving to the city from the south. It was then just a 10 minute walk into the centre down cobbled streets where I started to take in the relaxed vibe of the city (Picture 2). 📷 I soon came across Michael's Gate, an impressively unique building dating back to the 14th century, which once was used as a ceremonial parade point for newly appointed Monarchs of the Austria-Hungary empire (Picture 3). 🥾 I paused for tea and cake before setting off on a solo guided tour of the city. Solo guided tours are great for exploring many cities, they're great for filling time and are great for getting your bearings when landing in a new city. My tour took me past impressive buildings such as the Slovak National Theatre (Picture 4), St. Martin's Cathedral (Picture 5), the Primacial Palace (Picture 6) and the curiously unique Blue Church of Elizabeth (Picture 7). 🏰 I then went up to the striking Bratislava Castle (Picture 8) which offered fantastic views of the city on the way down (Picture 1). 🍽️ My day finished with a fantastic Italian meal in a local restaurant (you're spoilt for choice in this city) before heading off back to the central bus station for my bus back to Vienna Airport. All in all, I'd definitely recommend Bratislava for those who want to get off the beaten track and enjoy unrivalled architecture in a delightful city where you won't be hounded by crowds. #postandearn

Bratislava's Old Town makes you feel like you've wandered into medieval Europe 🤍 I'll introduce you to a one-day plan full of things to see, so please take a look! ① Primate's Palace (first photo) A cute palace in pastel pink. The gorgeous decorations of medieval Europe are simply beautiful. The palace is decorated with art pieces, and you can feel the history of Bratislava. You can visit for about 3 euros 🙆♀️ ② Çimir Statue (second photo) There are interesting bronze statues all over Bratislava. The most famous of them is the Çimir Statue. The old man is peeking out of a manhole, and he's very cute. The sign says he's working, but he's slacking off a lot. It's located right in the middle of the old town, so be sure to find it! ③ Michael's Gate (fourth photo) A gate surrounding the city wall built in the 14th century, and it's said that there used to be four of them. Now only Michael's Gate remains, and it is like the entrance to the old town. It was in an area with few people, but it is a wonderful symbol of the old town. Its cute shape makes it look great in photos📸 ④ Hlavně Square (6th photo) A square in the center of the city. It has a medieval European atmosphere, and when I visited, a movie set in the 19th century was being filmed there! The cars and the extras were dressed stylishly, and I really felt like I had traveled back in time☺️ The square is lined with stylish cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops, so you can spend about half a day relaxing in the area!! Michael's Gate is the only surviving medieval historical gate in Bratislava. There were four gates when it was built in the 14th century, but now there is no trace of it except for Michael's Gate, so it is a valuable presence. The current appearance is the result of a Baroque renovation in the early 18th century, and the tower is about 51m tall. If you want to go up to the observation deck, buy a ticket at the nearest museum, "Lekáreň U červeného raka", open the door yourself, and go up the stairs to the top of the tower. It is a good height and I recommend it because you can get a beautiful view of the old town of Bratislava. There are many historical buildings, cafes, and restaurants in the surrounding area, so it is a great area for strolling. Please go and check it out. #trip overseas travel #Europe trip #girls trip

A record of a day trip to Bratislava from Vienna✨ First thing in the morning, I visited Bratislava Castle, then walked around the streets of the old town😊 All the buildings are cute😍 It's within walking distance, so I took a bus once to go a little further away, but otherwise I walked😉 Only the Blue Church (photos 5 and 6) is a little off the beaten path. Saint Michael's Tower, also known as Michael's Gate is around 1.6 kilometers 20 minutes walk from Bratislava train station. It is the only city gate tower that has been preserved of the medieval fortifications and ranks among the oldest town buildings, that was built around the year 1300. The 51 meters tall clock tower was modified between 1753 and 1758 to give its current baroque style with the statue of St Michael and the Dragon placed at its top. A bronze kilometer zero at the entrance of St Michael's Gate showing the distance to other major cities in the rest of the world. The cobblestone street around the gate is very atmospheric with nice cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops at the old preserved buildings.
