Beijing Travel "Travel Route"—Solo Trip to Beijing.
This classic route is a must for city walks! It has a rich history and unique scenery. The Temple of Emperors of Successive Dynasties, Xishiku Church, and the Old Site of Beiping Library record the history of Beijing in different periods, and the Zhengyang Bookstore tells the story of Beijing's past and present. This classic route is definitely worth a visit!
🗺 Route: Beijing Lu Xun Museum ➡ Miaoying Temple White Pagoda ➡ Temple of Emperors of Successive Dynasties ➡ Guangji Temple ➡ Zhengyang Bookstore/Wansong Laoren Pagoda ➡ Red Building Public Library ➡ Xishiku Church ➡ Old Site of Beiping Library
🕒 Duration: 3.5–4 hours, about 3.5 km
💡 Tips: After the tour, you can continue east to visit Beihai, Jingshan, the Corner Tower, and May Fourth Street. Beijing Lu Xun Museum, Miaoying Temple White Pagoda, and Red Building Public Library are closed on Mondays, and the Temple of Emperors of Successive Dynasties is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Check-in Points:
✅ Beijing Lu Xun Museum: It has Lu Xun's former residence and exhibition. The museum introduces Lu Xun's life on a timeline. The cats inside may scratch, so don't pet them.
✅ Miaoying Temple White Pagoda: It is considered the oldest landmark in Beijing. The surrounding hutongs are worth a visit, and there are many shops worth checking out. The red wall to the east is a great place to take photos with the White Pagoda.
✅ Temple of Emperors of Successive Dynasties: Also known as the Temple of Emperors, it enshrines the tablets of 188 emperors of successive dynasties in China. The architecture is similar to the Forbidden City, so if you can't get a ticket to the Forbidden City, you should come here.
✅ Chijian Hongci Guangji Temple: One of the "Eight Temples" in Beijing, it is now the site of the Buddhist Association of China. If you want to find love, you should come here to pray.
✅ Zhengyang Bookstore: A specialty bookstore that only collects and sells books related to Beijing. It tells the story of Beijing's past and present. Wansong Laoren Pagoda is located in the courtyard.
✅ Red Building Public Library: It was transformed from the original Red Building Cinema in Xisi. The entrance has some anime content, so if you don't want to read, it's not recommended to come here.
✅ Xishiku Church: One of the four major churches in Beijing, it was originally called the Church of the Savior. It has a Chinese and Western architectural style, and the stained glass windows inside are very beautiful.
✅ Old Site of Beiping Library: It was originally the site of the National Beiping Library and the first national academy. It is now the National Library of China Ancient Books Library. The green Ming and Qing style architecture is very unique.

This is how you Citywalk in Beijing.
When it comes to Citywalk in Beijing, there are many routes to choose from. If you ask me, I would recommend this route:
⛺[Tips]:
Lu Xun Museum → Miaoying Temple White Pagoda → Temple of the Emperors of Successive Dynasties → Guangji Temple → Zhengyang Bookstore → Xishiku Church
⭐️Lu Xun Museum
The museum mainly introduces the life of Lu Xun from birth to death.
⭐️Miaoying Temple White Pagoda
One of the popular check-in spots, many tourists come here to pray. The best part of the route is walking from Lu Xun Museum to the White Pagoda Temple along the hutong.
⭐️Guangji Temple
The temple is very popular, with lush greenery and friendly monks. You can see people reading scriptures everywhere.
⭐️Zhengyang Bookstore
Located at the corner of the hutong, you can take a break here if you are tired. It is also a great place to take photos.
⭐️Xishiku Church
The church is beautiful inside and out. Please take off your hat when entering the church.

Beijing Xisi Citywalk.
My son is learning about Lu Xun, so I took him to the Beijing Lu Xun Museum to learn more about him! After the trip, I found this route to be a treasure trove of fun for both adults and children.
Lu Xun Museum—White Pagoda Temple—Beijing Temple of Ancient Monarchs—China Geological Museum—Red Building Public Library—Zhengyang Bookstore—Xishiku Church—Xidan
We departed from Tianjin South Railway Station and arrived at Beijing South Railway Station at 10:30.
First stop: Lu Xun Museum
Exit from Exit B of Fuchengmen Subway Station, and walk a few hundred meters along the hutong to the Lu Xun Museum. Lu Xun Bookstore—Life Exhibition Hall (you can get a commemorative ticket with your name on it with your ID card at the entrance) and a stamp next to it. Visit the exhibition hall, and there is a cultural and creative store outside. We bought three books and a pencil case and got a stamp! Then we visited Lu Xun's former residence and saw the tree he planted himself!
After leaving the museum, we went to the White Pagoda Temple. We walked along the hutong and passed by some nice shops that were perfect for taking photos. We first went to the White Pagoda Temple Alley to take photos of the red wall and white pagoda that are popular with celebrities, and then went to Miaoying White Pagoda Temple | Health and Longevity, Disease and Karma Elimination, tickets are CNY 20/person.
We passed by the Temple of Ancient Monarchs without entering it. When we arrived at the Geological Museum, we found that it was closed for construction. Next to it was Zhengyang Bookstore, where you can pet cats. Next to it were Sanyuan Meiyuan and Xinqiao Bakery, where you can buy food! Opposite was the Red Building Public Library! Then we went to Xishiku Church, which was a great place to take photos! That was the end of the day! We rode a bike for more than one kilometer to Xidan, ate food, and visited the Guzi store! We took the train back to Tianjin at 18:00.

Beijing Family Outing | Lu Xun Museum is a must-visit.
I have a sixth-grade boy who recently studied some of Mr. Lu Xun's articles in his Chinese textbook. Following the textbook to travel, I took my child to visit the Beijing Lu Xun Museum (one of the check-in places for New Youth), saw the former residence of Mr. Lu Xun, and deeply felt the torrent of culture and the unique charm of Mr. Lu Xun.
📝Reservation: Reservation is required, free of charge🆓.
🚇Transportation: Exit B of Fuchengmen Station on Subway Line 2, a few minutes' walk.
⏰Time: 9:00-16:00 (entry stops at 15:30)
🌟Closed on Monday
👠Tour route: Lu Xun Bookstore ➡️ Lu Xun Museum ➡️ Lu Bo Book House ➡️ Temporary Exhibition (if any) ➡️ Lu Xun's Former Residence.
📚Lu Xun Museum is a cultural holy land that gathers Lu Xun's life deeds, cultural relics and treasures, and wonderful exhibitions. The museum's collections are rich and diverse, including Lu Xun's handwriting, books, photos and other precious cultural relics. These silent witnesses connect Mr. Lu Xun's life of waking up the world.
📖In the museum exhibition area, exquisite paintings show us Mr. Lu Xun's rigorous attitude towards learning and his exposure to social reality. His words are as sharp as a sword, deeply depicting the dark and unequal era.
🏠The former residence of Mr. Lu Xun is a small quadrangle courtyard. The layout of the courtyard and the display of the interior are all preserved in the style of Mr. Lu Xun's residence. The courtyard preserves two lilacs planted by Mr. Lu Xun, which is the last residence of Mr. Lu Xun in Beijing.
🎈During the visit, children can immerse themselves in understanding and feeling the content learned in the book: from the herb garden to the three-flavor bookstore, the earliest book obtained by Lu Xun, Shan Hai Jing, etc., and the things that have not been learned in the book are extended in all directions from various periods. There is a lot to gain!
🕹️After the visit, you can also take your child to check in and stamp at Lu Xun Bookstore and Lu Bo Book House to leave a souvenir. While immersing your child in gaining knowledge and insights, you can also cherish the beauty. It's a worthwhile trip!
