During a 5 day stay in Beijing, we found the most tranquil park right on the doorstep of our hotel. We purposefully booked accommodation outside of the main tourist area and it did not disappoint. As per the custom we packed up with snacks, food and drinks, a book and a blanket and spend the day here at Longtan Park, Dongcheng. We really needed the time to re-energise before heading back to the hotspots amongst the masses. The park, was literally over the road from the hotel. There were plenty of bus stops (didn't take the numbers as we didn't use them) and accessible from the nearest subway station Temple of Heaven East Gate / Tiantandongmen line 5. It cost 2 Yuan each to enter. Great walking paths along the lakeside and plenty of spots to sit in the shade. Several drinks and ice cream sellers but not much. As we visited on a Sunday, we were lucky to see a local choir group rehearsing (which they invited us to sit and sing with them) and a women's group in traditional dress practicing their singing and dancing. There are boats to hire, much to the amuzement of the children who were having a go, and plenty of kite flyers all competing which was a new sight for us. Highly recommend for some time out of the city. The park is also opposite the Longtan Zhonghu Park (free to enter) and a great people watching spot, however this was a lot more active with everyone walking or running. #beijingpark #beijing

Having these three fortunes, shouldn’t we celebrate and recognize them? On that day, willows on the bank cast shades, the lake waves were deep green, and we indulged in chatting and laughing over Luocha, Guijiu, Lanjiang and Longge. The red peony nodded to us, the brocade fish jumped in the waves, and we were in great joy. I have written this down, hoping to carry on the legacy of Lanting. The following are the poems of the sages: Mr. Shengwu, Longtan Yaji Zhixi Living together beside Mount Yanshan, meeting each other is also difficult. Longtan is the place where elegant people gather, and heaven and earth are delighted. A high pavilion is suitable for discussing philosophy, while a quiet trip does not require buying a mountain. The fragrance of tea condenses into thousands of willows, which can be seen as a painting. Mr. Liu Zheng Longtan Improvisation Shadows of the double bridges are reflected on the painted boat, and the wind blows gently through the willows on the pavilion. The Dragon Boat Festival is over and the purification ceremony is over, so let’s drink wine and chant poems to entertain the fish and dragons. Went to Longtan Park a few days ago to celebrate the beauty of #springblossom. We witnessed so many pink flowers around. This season, end of March to April, must be the best season to see the cherr blossoms. In Longtan Park, there are several buildings with Chinese style architecture. Also, in some corners, people were Taiji and singing + playing Chinese instruments too around. It makes us happily immersed more in Chinese culture. Longtan Park opens daily from 6 AM to 10 PM. Best time to come here is after 4 PM. Recommended time to visit is 2 hours and more.
