Here is the detailed itinerary: Day 1 Arrive by plane in Guiyang → Guiyang Airport Shuttle Bus to Guiyang North Station (1 hour) → High-speed train to Anshun West (about 30 minutes) → Direct shuttle bus to Huangguoshu (35 minutes) 🎑 Stay near Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area Huangguoshu 21°C Hotel 👉🏻 No sightseeing on the first day, dinner outside the scenic area, and a simple stroll around. Highly recommend this hotel for its cost performance and shuttle service to the scenic area (the owner will drive you to the entrance in a Maybach!). Day 2 Visit Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area (7h) → Direct shuttle to Anshun West High-speed Rail Station (35 minutes) → High-speed train to Libo (1h 45mins) → Scenic area shuttle bus to Xiaoqikong Scenic Area East Gate (about 15 minutes) 🎑 Stay inside Libo Xiaoqikong Scenic Area Ruijing Hotel 👉🏻 Huangguoshu route: Big Waterfall, lower half of Tianxing Bridge, Doupotang (only the god’s view), skipping some small spots. This way you finish early and can rest and eat at the entrance. There are many detailed guides available online. 💡 For photos, it’s recommended to visit Water Curtain Cave last at the Big Waterfall because you will get wet and makeup may smudge. 👉🏻 The hotel in Libo is a bit older but has good service. The advantage is you can enter the scenic area early the next day to shoot popular spots without crowds (opens at 8 am). Day 3 Visit Xiaoqikong Scenic Area (6h) → Direct shuttle to Qianhu Miao Village West Gate (about 3.5 hours) 🎑 Stay inside the Miao Village Yixiangju Panorama Hotel 👉🏻 Xiaoqikong highlights: only visit Xiaoqikong, Laya Waterfall, 68-step Waterfall, Wolong Pool; no visit to Yuanyang Lake (no boating). Highly recommend eating Banji Thumb Beef Noodles outside the East Gate. 👉🏻 This hotel is a must-recommend! The owner helps with luggage, suggests efficient routes and shuttle bus tips, and rooms offer panoramic views of the Miao Village. Day 4 Visit Qianhu Miao Village (8h) → Carpool to Kaili South High-speed Rail Station (about 40 minutes) → High-speed train to Guiyang North (36 minutes) 🎑 Stay near Guiyang North Station Atour Hotel 👉🏻 Many people avoid the Miao Village, but it’s actually very fun. The difficult roads are part of its unique terrain. After the first two stops, you can basically accept it. The village terrain is V-shaped, with the main street at the lowest point and accommodations on the hillsides. Choose lodging close to the shuttle bus stops because dragging luggage uphill is really exhausting. Day 5 Visit Guiyang city → Taxi to the airport (25 km) Special Forces Tips💡 1. Choose high-speed trains + direct scenic area shuttles to save time; check schedules and book tickets in advance. 2. At Huangguoshu, focus on the Big Waterfall and lower half of Tianxing Bridge; Doupotang panoramic view is enough, don’t overdo it and waste energy. 3. Arrive at Libo Xiaoqikong an hour early to shoot empty scenes and avoid crowds, doubling your chances of great photos. 4. Choose Miao Village lodging near shuttle stops; the owner’s help with luggage saves a lot of effort, and panoramic rooms have amazing night views. 5. Wear comfortable sneakers throughout; daily steps exceed 10,000, and hard-soled shoes will make you question life. The beauty of Guizhou is hidden in its mountains, waters, and local life. Budget trip must go Guizhou Province... We went to Huangguoshu waterfall, Mount Fanjing, Li Bo Xiao Qi Kong and other 2 scenic areas. We spent ¥1500 per pax for 5D4N (excluding my flight tickets). Guizhou has the most prosperous forest I've ever seen.It is famous for its cool weather in summer days. We were quite lucky that the waterfall actually was with enough flow. Not too much, then it would be muddy yellow. Not too little, then it would be pity. I would like to highly recommend Mount Fanjing, because of the shape of the mountain and the special trails. In Libo, you can enjoy the green mountains and clear waters of Xiaoqikong during the day, and at night, you may want to visit the Yaoshan Ancient Village to experience the traditional culture of the white-trousered Yao people holding long spears in the mountains of Guizhou! 📍Address: It is about five kilometers away from the east gate of Xiaoqikong. If you stay in the B&B here, it is very close and cheap to take a taxi. But on the way back, you need to take the car that picks up passengers at the entrance of the ancient village, otherwise you can't call a car. 💰Per capita consumption: The ticket including the performance is about 80 yuan, but we booked the ticket with the B&B and got a big discount. You can also order the Yao King Banquet for dinner, which can be eaten while watching the performance. It looks very rich. 💞Recommendation reason: The Yao ethnic group's dinner with long spear performance is only one a day. It is the best (free) ethnic minority performance we have seen in Guizhou this time. It is better than the Qianjiang Miao Village. There are stories, songs and dances, sacrifices, unique musical instruments, and cattle to participate. Not only does it introduce wedding customs, but the humorous and vivid performances make children enjoy watching. Although it is always crowded even in the off-season, this place known as the "Emerald on the Earth's Belt" [Libo Xiaoqikong] is really worth a visit ❗The dreamy blue-green gradient lake is like "liquid jade" on a sunny day and like "peacock blue silk" on a cloudy day~ As a mature scenic spot, you can check in the different features of the scenic spot in one day by [sightseeing bus + hiking]. The scenic area has thoughtful and complete services and facilities. There are restaurants and toilets at each boarding and alighting point, which is very convenient. If you have any questions, you can grab a random staff member on the spot to solve them, so there is no need to worry at all. The two options of not going back depend on your preference. 1️⃣Enter from the east gate and exit from the west gate: You can stay at the East Gate [Ruijing Hotel] (the hotel is inside the scenic area) and enjoy the [unmanned Xiaoqikong Ancient Bridge] in advance. After breakfast, go to the [Big Seven-hole Scenic Area] first (20 yuan for a boat ride in and walk out, two different ways to experience the scenery), then enter the [Small Seven-hole Scenic Area] and walk from the ancient bridge to the west gate one by one. This tour direction is mostly uphill, and it will be more physically demanding on a sunny and hot day. 2️⃣Enter from the west gate and exit from the east gate: Check in at the most popular and most beautiful [Wolongtan] first (after all, there are basically no spots for taking photos by the pond one hour after it opens), and then go downhill all the way to save energy. But there are a lot of people in this direction. 🗺️Address: Provincial Road 206, Libo County, Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province (26km from the city), there are parking lots at the east and west gates. I don't like group tours ❌ and I'm also afraid of signing shady contracts. ✅So, even though Guizhou is full of group tours, I still chose to travel independently. There's only one advantage to group tours in Guizhou: transportation. But after this trip, I found that it's totally manageable. 👀And independent travel is truly free!! I can make plans and choose attractions as I please. For example, most group tours wouldn't take me to Yelang Valley, which I really wanted to see. This was a one day trip that we had been planning for almost three months. We set out at 0530am from Guiyang to Libo. We used a personal car to drive to & fro. It was a journey of more than 200km. We arrived & bought our tickets after signing in (due to Covid reasons, foreigners have to fill in their travel history & show their green health code for entry) We set out for what was to be a beautiful & amazing day. The place is very big & there are buses included in the entry fee, so once inside it’s easy to move from one scenic spot to the other. There are many places to visit so don’t waste time on one scene. There are more than 3 kinds of waterfalls, all so beautiful. There are spots where one can play in the water so bring an extra pair of sandals or slopes. If you have a child with you, they’ll definitely want to get into the water so bring an extra change of clothes. There are lots of people even during the week so you’ll need to take turns to experience the various activities like boating. There is also a cave where you can see beautiful natural infrastructure inside, oh so colorful. The last scene is the most famous one from history, the bridge with seven arches. Overall it was a wonderful experience. There is one particular eating where I had rice & chicken thighs for lunch, tasty!
