The place I went to eat dinner in Kumamoto City was Yatai-mura (屋台村), a place where small food stalls and bars are gathered. On the third day in Kumamoto, from the moment I stepped into Takachiho Gorge, I was deeply immersed in this fairyland-like world. Walking along the quiet trail towards the canyon, the surrounding trees cast dappled light and shadows, while the magnificence of the canyon is reflected on the water. The boating experience is definitely an irreplaceable memory of this trip - the boat slowly shuttles between the two banks, and when you look up you can see the vertical cliffs. The sound of flowing water and birdsong interweave into a natural melody, as if everything has stopped, making you forget about time.
