Tangshan Hetou Old Street, China (Wow... China is evolving haha)
This weekend, I went to Tangshan, China, to clear my head.
Transportation🍀
I live in Beijing, so it took about an hour and a half by train from Beijing Station. It's close, right? Haha
Transportation Tips😎
In China, try to choose trains that start with C, Z, or T rather than the expensive G (high-speed train). They take about the same amount of time and are usually half or two-thirds the price.
In Tangshan, use Tidi Chuxing to get around.
Taxi fares are cheaper than in other cities.
Itinerary🍀
Day 1: Earthquake Memorial Hall, Nanhu Park
Day 2: Rest at the hotel, eat a lot at Wanda Plaza lol
Day 3: Hetou Old Street (wow, amazing~)
Itinerary Tips😎
If you're pressed for time, a two-day, one-night trip is plenty.
Check if the Earthquake Memorial Hall is open. It's currently closed for a long time.
Nanhu Park is so huge.
The Intercontinental Hotel near Wanda Plaza is already cheap in China,
but Tangshan is even cheaper by 10,000-20,000 won. Highly recommended.
The pool water is warm and pleasant.
Hetou Old Street 🍀
Yes, I've been to every famous city in China, lol.
But Chinese travel destinations have been evolving in recent years.
Hetou Old Street was roughly 💊 rebuilt from Tangshan!! Haha
I'd say so.
Of course, you could simply view it as a modernized restoration of an old street, but I really liked their design.
Enter through the South Gate, and enjoy the water skiing in the plaza and the view of the river and lighting towers in the old street during the day.
There's a water station, lol. The cars are free.
If you look closely, they even give you a popsicle. Haha.
Wow, I've never seen anything like this in China.
A narrow, long canal separates the old street.
There are markets, food stalls, and plazas on both sides.
Everyone is dressed in traditional attire.
Everywhere, they play Yabawi games, just like in the old days.
Quiz games and giveaways are really lively.👍
At Nammun Square, there's Peking opera, flute performances, aerial water skiing, flying attractions, cruises, and more. Your eyes and ears will be dazzled.ㅋ
There's singing and instrumental performances everywhere,
Dangsan dialect guessing, murals, and views from the bridge across the river...
Anyway, the person who designed and planned this place deserves an award. 🏆
Old Street Tips😎
Enjoy the free shuttles, ice skating rinks, performances, and quizzes along the way.
Go around sunset to see both the daytime and nighttime views.
It's truly a treat. 😋
In the evening, there's the Dangwangdongjeong (hmm... does the story overlap with our history?)
The performance is also spectacular, so be sure to see it. All prices are cheaper on weekdays than weekends.
Then, let's head to Hetou Old Street, a friendly neighborhood in Dangsan. ^^
