Gardens everywhere, everywhere! And they're all free~ As soon as the sun comes out, the lawns are full of people. With my friend @Mcdull's Travel Diary, I strolled through gardens, taking photos along the way, and couldn't help but marvel at Melbourne's relaxed vibe‌~ People running, reading, sunbathing by the roadside, even a convent is full of artistic flair. 🌄Every time I finish visiting NGV, I love sitting on Southbank and daydreaming. Kayaks pass by in front of me, one after another. Turns out a city can be this livable~ · Here are a few Melbourne gardens I recommend. Go live like a local~ 1️⃣Fitzroy Gardens (home to Captain Cook's Cottage, though the outside of the cottage is prettier than the inside) 2️⃣Melbourne Park: When watching the Australian Open, I love walking back to the hotel along Melbourne Park. The Yarra River's relaxed vibe‌ is at its peak. 3️⃣Carlton Gardens: Iconic Exhibition Building + fountain, full of English charm, but I heard it was a University of Melbourne execution ground. International students have a bit of dark humor. 4️⃣Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne 5️⃣Albert Park: This is an F1 racetrack! The CBD in the middle of the lake is truly beautiful. 6️⃣Abbotsford Convent: An Italianate convent built in 1889, once one of Melbourne's early charitable convents. Not many people, good for photos. 7️⃣Southbank: Although not a park, the Yarra River always holds the souls yearning for freedom~ · Besides that, Melbourne has its own La La Land, with 2 absolute favorite sunset spots: 1️⃣St Kilda: Stay a bit later, and you can see little penguins come ashore. 2️⃣Point Ormond Lookout: By the sea! All romantic and free souls! I really admire how foreigners are so unashamed about love! #Register for March Hotel Sleep Tester 2025 The retrospective exhibition of Nayoi Kusama at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV International) in Melbourne is exciting, but sometimes you can’t watch it slowly in a hurry. Don't be afraid! Because there is a free area to check in extremely quickly! A total of more than 60 sycamore trees along St. Kilda Road covered with the iconic pink and white polka dots among the grass, called Polka Dots on the Tree Ascend to Heaven has transformed the entire street into an open-air art gallery. The free exhibition area in the front hall of NGV is famous for its huge bronze yellow and black pumpkin sculpture Dancing Pumpkin, which features a 5-metre-high sculpture. Created in 2020, this piece is one of Kusama’s largest and most ambitious pumpkins to date. The octopus-like tentacles on the pumpkin curve and flow, suspended above the ground, as if they are dancing to the rhythm, revealing to us her deep understanding of the universe and existence. There is also a classic interactive installation, the Narcissus Garden. The piece consists of 1,400 silver reflective balls with a diameter of 30 centimeters, some of which are placed on the ground in front of the water curtain wall, while the other is distributed within the Federal Courtyard of the Museum of Art, reflecting its surroundings for a fantastic visual effect. There are also big yellow and black balloons on the ceiling, a narcissistic garden restaurant and a wonderful Yayoi Kusama gift shop.

Got more to share from last year’s Melbourne trip. First up, Flinders Street Station. Seriously, that place is like stepping into a Victorian postcard. It's so grand! And get this – it's the busiest train station in the whole southern hemisphere! Imagine all the stories it could tell. I just loved watching the hustle and bustle, imagining all the journeys starting and ending there. Then, I dragged myself out of bed early (yes, me!) and headed to Queen Victoria Market. Best.decision.ever. The people-watching? Off the charts! It’s just so vibrant and real. Plus, the smells! Food heaven. Okay, now for something a bit heavier: the Old Melbourne Gaol. "Gaol" is just an old-timey word for jail, by the way. This place is intense. It's a real jail, and you can feel the weight of history there. It really hit me how many people suffered injustice during the gold rush. Definitely made me think. But then, to lighten the mood, I wandered into the State Library. Wow. Just wow. Melbourne really lives up to its rep as a city of literature. The architecture is stunning, the books are endless, and it's just a great place to hang out. You can tell it's a real social hub. And of course, no trip to Melbourne is complete without checking out the street art. Hosier Lane and ACDC Lane? Forget boring walls! These alleys are exploding with color and creativity.
