Recommended restaurants 1) Higher Ground (Brunch flat white, good) 2) Onsen Japanese (Ramen & Donburi) There were some regrettable points~ 1. Early check-in is not possible 2. I found a highly-rated cafe online, which is conveniently located right across the street from Melbourne's Southern Cross Station! The cafe was converted from an abandoned power plant, featuring a unique industrial-style decor. After looking at the menu, I ordered the popular Hotcake. It's a thick pancake topped with nuts, maple syrup, and soft cream. The combination offers a rich texture, but it might be too heavy for one person to finish. The vibe is great; we were there around 12 pm and got a table right away. Very casual atmosphere. There is something about the ambiance of this place. The drinks were so good and set the tone for what’s about to come next. By the ways, the portions were huge! The plates don’t only look amazing, the dishes tasted amazing too. Truly fantastic. The interior and vibes are good too. For drivers, park at the First Parking off Lonsdale street, $10 weekend flat rate. We tried both the cappuccino and the pour over coffee. The last time i visited higher ground was a few years back and i remember the hot cake being the highlight. So when i was in Melbourne recently, I felt like it was time to pay the hot cake a visit. Higher Ground great place and beautiful architecture. The food was amazing. For a breakfast place I would have thought a drinks menu would have been provided on arrival but only a list of coffees was given. Awesome atmosphere and very classy rustic vibes. Prices are a little high for what you get. Carrot cake was unreal, please order it when you come here. Coffee was delish. The building itself was stunning and near the station. The cafe scene in melbourne is pretty solid. But that also means some places hyped up. Also the pricing can be ridiculous. I tried the Hugher ground on two occasions. Once for a coffee during midday and another time for proper breakfast. Thus place as expected is pretty popular. By the time at 8am when I got in, it was already packed with the kitchen even running out of certain bakery items. They have an extensive menu with modern and inventive takes on dishes. The pricing I am not very pleased with but the portion are huge. Yet it is a limiting factor. Overall the experience was decent but not extraordinary as I expected. I visited in a hurry, so I didn't make a reservation, and I visited alone as a walk-in I visited around 9 am on a weekday, and as expected, there were a lot of people, as expected of a famous brunch cafe There was a waiting line because it was a famous restaurant, but the turnover seemed to be fast Since there are seats on the second floor, the ceiling is very high and the windows are large, it didn't feel stuffy, which was nice ✨Spanner Crab Benedict $32 (+$4 if you add caviar) I was looking for a menu on Naver Blog, and I ordered Spanner Crab Benedict because it was recommended! This menu is served with crab meat, poached eggs, and béarnaise sauce on toasted Danish bread. ✨Latte $5.50 Higher Ground's coffee beans are not too sour, so they were perfect for my taste! Ricotta pancakes are the most famous among Koreans, and locals eat eggs on sourdough the most.
