#ancientcities Petra, one of the new 7 wonders of the world and UNESCO world heritage site, is truly amazing and beautiful. Petra is an ancient city in Hellenistic and Roman times. This means over 2000 years ago! While Petra is well known for the treasury, the other parts like the monastery, the tombs and the great temple are all pretty and impressive in their own ways! The hike to the monastery is definitely worth it. Also did the wadi al farasa trail to the high place of sacrifice which is moderately challenging especially going to the altar with crazy wind and steep slope. But you will get a panoramic view of petra and along the way see other interesting architectures. I spent 8 hours at Petra. Do note that the walk into Petra from the tourist information centre is about 30-40 mins walk.

There are so many things to see and do across the giant archeological of Petra, you may even miss the huge temple just off the main path. Built before the Romans arrived the function of the grand building is still unknown. However, despite this some fascinating archaeological discoveries have been made here form numerous intricately carved elephant heads to lamps and coins from the Roman occupation. #aprilblooms #Petra #temple

The Petra Ruins, located in the desert region of Jordan, is an ancient city and one of the top tourist destinations in the Middle East, also registered as a World Heritage site. Featured in the movie 'Indiana Jones,' it is known as a dream destination that many aspire to visit at least once. The entrance to the ruins is a gorge called 'Siq,' flanked by towering rock walls on both sides. After passing through the approximately 1.2 km path, the magnificent 'Al-Khazneh (The Treasury)' suddenly appears, offering a breathtaking sight. There are numerous attractions, including countless tombs and temples carved into the rock walls, and 'Ad-Deir (The Monastery).' While exploring the ruins during the day is wonderful, the 'Petra by Night' event, where candles illuminate the site, is also highly recommended for its enchanting atmosphere.

I came to Ed Deir in Petra in Jordan. It takes about 2 hours to walk from the entrance of Petra, and there are slopes along the way, so it's hard to get there, but the scenery is beautiful when you arrive and you feel a sense of accomplishment. If you get tired on the way, you can ride a donkey, but you need to negotiate and be careful because there are many rip-offs. The Great Temple of Petra really lives up to its name it’s a grand monumental complex that covers an area of more than 7500 m² the complex was probably completed in the early part of first century A.D. in its heyday, it really must’ve been an absolutely incredible structure even today it is impressive to behold. Petra in Jordan is one of the Seven Wonders of the World! It's actually the setting for Indiana Jones 🫣 The Nabataeans, who settled here 2000 years ago, dug into the sandstone and built a large city that is now in ruins ☝🏽 You'll have to walk a lot once you get inside, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothes!
