Day 2: Guangren Temple—Shuyuanmen—Yongning Gate City Wall
Day 3: Muslim Street—Qinglong Temple—Xiangzi Temple Street
🍜 'Food Guide'
Hulatang, mutton pao mo and other tourist-targeted foods are fine to try, but locals prefer to go to Sajinqiao and Xiangzi Temple Street. Sajinqiao has many snacks and is very down-to-earth, while Xiangzi Temple Street has many coffee shops, more fashionable and modern, great for checking in.
Follow this detailed guide, and you won't go wrong. If you don't want to encounter crowds, you can also avoid holidays and travel off-peak for a better photo experience.
ELSIE REEVES
I stayed in Xi'an for 4 days, and here's my heartfelt advice
After staying in Xi'an for 4 days and testing it out myself, I strongly advise everyone to plan ahead before you go, because Xi'an will really punish anyone who doesn't! 🌟
Whether you want to travel freely or join a reliable tour group, you should learn about the prices of hotels and tickets in advance, calculate the travel costs, and then decide whether to join a tour group or not.
-
🟩 Accommodation
📍Near the Bell and Drum Tower: Located in the center of Xi'an, the advantages are close to attractions and the Muslim Street food area, but the disadvantages are high prices, crowded with people and cars, and severe traffic jams during peak periods.
📍Near Yongning Gate: One station away from the Bell and Drum Tower, the price is similar, with the advantage of convenient transportation and a plethora of food options.
📍Near the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda: Close to the Tang Paradise & Great Tang All Day Mall, convenient for night views, and easy access to subways and taxis.
📍Near the high-speed rail station/Xi'an station: Convenient transportation to attractions.
🗺️Four-day classic itinerary:
1⃣Arrive in Xi'an - Check into the hotel
After a tiring journey, rest up beautifully upon arrival, and go for a leisurely stroll in the evening~
-
2⃣Terracotta Army - Huaqing Palace - Great Tang All Day Mall - The Song of Everlasting Sorrow
The Terracotta Army has a tour leader to explain, which makes the experience different! There are many performances at the Great Tang All Day Mall in the evening, which is very lively, so don't miss out.
-
3⃣City Wall - Giant Wild Goose Pagoda - Bell and Drum Tower - Muslim Street
You can rent a bike on the City Wall to enjoy the scenery, otherwise walking is really too tiring. In the evening, the Bell and Drum Tower lights up beautifully, so don't miss it if you want to take photos in Hanfu. Muslim Street has many snacks~
-
4⃣Mount Hua - Return trip
Mount Hua is a bit steep, but the scenery is super beautiful. Remember to wear sports shoes. If you're lucky, you might see a sea of clouds. There's a section with a cable car, and another section you have to walk up yourself~
⚠️Xi'an travel tips to avoid pitfalls
🌀Near the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, you often see people dressed in strange costumes who want to take photos with you, but they actually charge a fee.
🌀Don't buy Xi'an specialties near major attractions, as they are expensive. It's recommended to go to local supermarkets, which are economical and affordable.
🌀The Great Tang All Day Mall has a high photo success rate at night, so don't go during the day when it's very commercial.
🌀Most attractions in Xi'an require tickets, so it's very important to remember to bring your student ID if you have one!
🌀The internet-famous snack 'Mao Bi Su' is expensive and personally, I don't think it tastes good, so definitely don't buy it.
🌀Muslim Street is heavily commercialized, and most of the visitors who go there to check in are from out of town. Be sure to take good care of your personal belongings.
🔥If it's your first time in Xi'an and you don't want to plan and can't book a hotel, you can join a local pure play group, which will save you a lot of hassle, especially when watching 'The Song of Everlasting Sorrow' performance at night. The last show ends after eleven, and there's no subway, so it's inconvenient to return to the city center. But be cautious when joining a tour group to avoid falling into the trap of low-priced tours❗ If needed, I can make recommendations for you~

A travel guide to Xi'an for first-timers!
Local tips coming your way! If you're planning a trip to Xi'an, you must read and save this practical guide I've painstakingly put together❤️🔥
For your reference✨
🔥Must-visit attractions
👉🏻Bell Tower, Drum Tower: The Bell Tower is located in the center of Xi'an, a landmark building, and the Drum Tower is next to the Muslim Quarter. Both are close by, a 5-minute walk apart, and there's a joint ticket for climbing both towers for 50 RMB;
🌸Tips: The views from the towers and from the outside each have their own charm. For outdoor photos, go to the observation deck on the 5th floor of Kaiyuan Mall next to the Bell Tower. The photo angle is superb, and it's free❗
👉🏻Tang Paradise, Big Wild Goose Pagoda: These places are frequently trending online. It's less crowded during the day, but the real scene comes alive at night;
It's recommended to go in the afternoon, start with the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (no need to go up, outdoor photos are classic). You can check the performance schedule on the Tang Paradise official account, plan ahead to queue for the show you're most interested in, as it really gets crowded to the point of questioning life
👉🏻Xi'an City Wall: Allocate enough time here, it's easy to get up but hard to come down, with a total length of 13.7 kilometers. It's worth renting a bicycle to go around (45 RMB/3 hours). The Yongning Gate is the most classic city gate, and it's the best spot for a photo🌈
👉🏻Terracotta Army: Tickets are 120 RMB per person, located outside the main urban area of Xi'an, quite far, one of the world's eight wonders. Don't set your expectations too high, it's one of those heritage sites where you feel like since you're there, you've got to check it off your list. Hiring a guide can make it more interesting.
🔥Must-try local foods
Shaanxi cuisine: You can go to Chang'an Stove under Yongning Gate, classic and authentic, with dishes like gourd chicken, clothes-hanging tripe that are both good-looking and tasty, and elbow rice that's very fragrant. You can also enjoy the city wall view⭐️
Snacks: Roujiamo (meat sandwich), gourd chicken, beef and mutton paomo (locals prefer beef paomo, ✨it's suggested to try paomo, water basin, and small stir-fry, each with its own flavor), gourd head, zeng cake (don't buy mirror cake, it's not tasty! Take my advice!), biangbiang noodles, rice skin, meatball hot and spicy soup, oil tea;
The Muslim Quarter is not as bad as rumored, avoid common snacks like grilled squid❌
Recommended is Grandma's sour plum soup, choose half-and-half with fermented glutinous rice sour plum soup, delicious!

DAY02: Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang - Huaqing Pool Performance
DAY03: Famen Temple - Ancient City Wall - Muslim Street/Spray Gold Bridge
🔥 Key points here / Pitfall Guide
📍 Shaanxi History Museum
China's first large-scale modern national museum, with a collection of over 370,000 items, ranging from Shang and Zhou bronzes, terracotta figures from various dynasties, Han and Tang gold and silverware to Tang tomb murals, known as the treasure house of Chinese civilization.
▪️ Book in advance, Tang Dynasty Mural Exhibition 300 yuan / Tang Dynasty Treasures 30 yuan
▪️ Human guide basic hall 100, treasure hall 50 yuan
▪️ Audio guide rental 30, deposit 100
📍 Da Ci'en Temple/Grand Tang Paradise/Grand Tang Mall
Da Ci'en Temple is most famous for the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built under the supervision of Xuanzang to preserve the scriptures and Buddha statues he brought back. Grand Tang Paradise is mainly a large-scale royal theme park showcasing the culture of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. There are also many performances in the park at different times.
🌈 If time is short, it is recommended to go directly to the Grand Tang Mall to experience the bustling Tang Dynasty night market! After all, the night view here is exciting!
📍 Muslim Street/Spray Gold Bridge
Muslim Street is basically one of the most concentrated tourist food spots, very crowded, and the dining prices on Muslim Street are not cheap, it can be treated as a sight to stroll through.
➡️ As for Spray Gold Bridge, there are fewer people compared to Muslim Street, but it's not exactly off the beaten path anymore. I personally recommend the old alleys next to Spray Gold Bridge, which are very nice to walk through and have an authentic local atmosphere.
📍 Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang
Approved by the United Nations in 1987 to be listed in the 'World Heritage List', it is known as the eighth wonder of the world. This attraction needs no introduction, a pride of the Chinese people. It's very crowded, be careful not to get pushed over.
📍 Huaqing Pool
Huaqing Pool, also known as Li Palace, where Yang Guifei bathed, is a very small pool. 🌈 The evening performance of 'The Song of Everlasting Sorrow' is recommended, with a total of ten acts, lasting 70 minutes. The performance is beautiful, and the prosperity of the Grand Tang Dynasty is worth seeing.
📍 Famen Temple
Founded during the Eastern Han Dynasty, it has a history of over 1900 years. Located in Baoji City, also known as the True Body Pagoda, it became a holy place for Buddhism because it houses the finger bone relics of Sakyamuni Buddha.
Famen Temple visit order: Old Temple > Museum > New Temple
➡️ Inside the Ten-Combined Relic Pagoda, which has an investment of over 5 billion, there is a performance about the past of Famen, which is quite beautiful. Friends who have the money and leisure can go and see it.
📍 Ancient City Wall
On the last day, you can climb the Ming Dynasty Ancient City Wall, which is the largest and most intact ancient city wall existing in China. There are four city gates in total, and the wall is especially magnificent at sunset. Highly recommended!

The Tang Dynasty Everbright City worth visiting
The Tang Dynasty Everbright City in Xi'an has gained fame in recent years, and I was fortunate to come here for a visit, feeling that it lives up to its reputation. Although it is a man-made cultural attraction, it is built next to the famous Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which gives a sense of borrowing the scenery to create a mood. Coupled with the grand and high-quality central axis sculpture group, and the original cultural venues on both sides of the street, such as Shaanxi Grand Theater, Shaanxi Culture Museum, Xi'an Art Museum, and Xuanzang Bronze Statue Square, it forms a cultural attraction with Xi'an characteristics. Plus, many beautiful women dressed in Tang and Han costumes take photos at the scenic spots, as if Yang Guifei is everywhere, really forming a wonderful scene of the Tang Dynasty Everbright City. The scenic area is free to visit, and you can also appreciate the charm of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, so it is a scenic spot worth visiting for everyone who comes to Xi'an. If you are interested, you can also take some good photos...
EMELY MALDONADO
Special Forces Xi'an Half-Day Tour.
Transfer to Xi'an, decided to take a tour of Xi'an on the spot.
After getting off the plane, I stored my luggage and took the airport bus to the first stop, the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors. The visit took one and a half hours. The most impressive part was the underground palace, a 4D experience.
The second stop was Huaqing Palace. Due to time constraints, I could only take a quick look around and didn't have the opportunity to climb Lishan Mountain.
The third stop was the Tang Dynasty Everbright City and the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. The lights were beautiful, but time was limited, so I didn't have time to take a good look around.
The biggest regret was not being able to visit the Xi'an History Museum. I will definitely visit it next time I have the chance!

Female college student braves Xi'an for three days and two nights
Female college student braves Xi'an for three days and two nights🔥
I set off from Hangzhou and arrived in Xi'an at 1:40 pm
After we dropped our luggage off at the hotel, we went to the Bell Tower area for makeup (we chose Wenwen because I saw many sisters recommending this shop before I went) I think it was quite good, the makeup artist was very patient and the styling was meticulous
After the makeup, we originally wanted to eat at 'San Gen Dian Xian Gan' but the queue was too long so we went to 'Zi Wu Lu Zhang Ji' instead (it was okay but a bit salty, and the portions were huge! Order with caution!!)
After eating, we went to take photos, that is, the Bell Tower and Drum Tower. I randomly found a photographer in front of the Bell Tower, 50 yuan for 6 photos (and in the end, the photographer gave me 13 photos, I think he did a good job) and then the Great Tang All Day Mall. Along the way, there were all the pretty girls who had done their makeup
The thing on my head was particularly heavy. After we finished playing and returned to the hotel, it took us ten minutes to take down our hair, and my head was really sore (I got heatstroke on the first day in Xi'an because I wasn't used to the climate there😇)
Then the next day, we got up early and went to the Xiao Nan Men morning market (it was particularly bad, we took a taxi back to the hotel after eating, and even the taxi driver said that Xiao Nan Men morning market rips people off) We did our makeup back at the hotel and then went to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Da Ci'en Temple, and ate at Chang'an Grand Stall in Xi'an Joy City (I recommend the lychee shrimp balls, they look and taste good)
In the evening, we went to the Muslim Street and Sajinqiao and walked around (never buy fruit from the stalls on Sajinqiao!!! We thought the cherries looked good so we bought some, but when we got back to the hotel we found many were rotten💢💢💢💢) We ate beef and mutton stir-fry with pita bread soaked in lamb soup (it was not bad, the stir-fry wasn't tasty but the soaked one was good)
Then on the third day, we got up early to see the Terracotta Army (we found a guide at the entrance, 30 yuan per person, and the group had more than 20 people, it felt particularly chaotic, often people would run off and leave the group, and then we were always looking for people and waiting for people!!! It wasted a lot of our time and we were so angry we almost missed our afternoon train)
Summary: Xi'an is particularly hot, everyone must bring an umbrella when going out! And a small fan! It's really easy to get heatstroke❗️

🏮Big Wild Goose Pagoda
🌃As night falls, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is surrounded by warm lights, and its solemn and sacred aura becomes even more intense.😲 It stands there quietly, like a wise old man, witnessing the rise and fall of the city.
🎆Don't miss the musical fountain at the north square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda! There are fixed performance times every night, so be sure to go early to get a good spot. With the rhythm of the music, the water jets of the fountain rise and fall, combined with the colorful lights, it's simply breathtaking.🤩
🌉Datang Everbright City
👘Stepping into Datang Everbright City is like instantly traveling back to the prosperous Tang Dynasty. The place is full of antique buildings, brilliant lights, and extraordinary liveliness.👨👩👧👦
💃There are many actors in gorgeous ancient costumes performing on the streets, with graceful dances and amazing acrobatics, making you feel as if you are in the bustling streets of the Tang Dynasty.🎶
🛍️The shops on both sides of the street are also unique, offering everything from traditional handicrafts to modern creative souvenirs. If you like, you can pick up some trinkets as a memento of your trip.🎉
🛕Ancient City Wall
🌌Climbing the ancient city wall at night is truly amazing! From the top of the wall, you can see the entire night view of Xi'an.🌟 The distant skyscrapers are brightly lit, while the nearby ancient streets and alleys exude a warm glow.
🚶♂️You can rent a bicycle on the city wall and ride leisurely, feeling the breeze on your face and listening to the wall telling ancient stories. However, pay attention to the closing time of the rental point, don't play too late.👂
🍜Food Tour
🍲How can Xi'an's night be complete without delicious food? Yangrou Paomo is a must-try classic. Find an old brand, tear the bread into pieces by hand, and watch the chef cook a bowl of fragrant Paomo, the taste is absolutely amazing!😜
🥙Liangpi is also a unique treat, with a refreshing texture and spicy seasoning that leaves a lasting impression. There's also Roujiamo, with crispy bread filled with juicy meat, take a bite, and feel the fullness of happiness.👍
😋However, be sure to choose clean and hygienic shops to avoid gastrointestinal discomfort.
🌠Practical Tips
🎫Book attraction tickets online in advance to save a lot of queuing time.
🚕For night travel, if you choose to take a taxi, pay attention to confirming the driver's route and cost.
📸Bring a power bank and enough memory cards, because you won't be able to stop taking photos.
👗Dress appropriately for the season, it may be cool at night, bring a light jacket just in case.
💖Every night scene in Xi'an is worth cherishing, every kind of food is worth savoring. Come and experience this unique charm for yourself!💖

Summer Travel Guide | Millennium Ancient Capital, Always Come to Chang'an!!!
| Millennium Ancient Capital, Always Come to Chang'an!!!. Traveling to Xi'an during the summer vacation, the Great Tang All Day Mall is definitely a must-visit spot to experience the prosperity and glory of the ancient capital!
📍Attraction Address:
The Great Tang All Day Mall is connected to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In the summer, it gets dark in Xi'an at 8 PM, and the fountain show at 9 PM is highly recommended for the best effect. The best spot for photos is at the north square of the fountain, where you can capture the fountain and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the same frame.
🚗Transportation to the Attraction:
Take the subway to the north square, where you can first watch the fountain. We stayed nearby and rode bikes there, but we had to get off and walk from quite a distance. A little complaint about the scenic area and shared bikes: it's fine that bikes are not allowed inside the scenic area, but do the no-parking zones have to be so large? Within a radius of two or three kilometers, you can only walk. Tourists, after walking around the whole area, just want to ride back to the hotel as soon as possible!
👍️Must-Visit Attractions:
1⃣Big Wild Goose Pagoda for Photos
The red walls of the south square are surrounded by the shadow of Chang'an lights captured by photographers, leaving very little space for tourists.
2⃣The main street on the south side of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is worth exploring. The overall style is very much like Chang'an, with all the buildings showcasing the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty. The ancient-style palace lanterns, majestic buildings, spinning Hu Xuan dance, and the half of the Tang Dynasty's poetry immortal at every turn, along with the Tang monk and his disciples on their journey to obtain the scriptures, all highlight the grandeur and inclusiveness of the prosperous Tang Dynasty!
🎟️Ticket Information:
All performances are free❤️❤️❤️
💗Travel Route:
Arrive at the north square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda at 8 PM to wait for the fountain show. After watching the fountain, head south, where performances are distributed along the main road.
21:00—21:10 Fountain Show (North Square)
22:00—22:10 Prosperous Tang Secret Box (West side of Dechangfa)
22:20—22:30 Music and Dance Chang'an (Center of Art Museum and Cinema)
22:30—22:40 Spinning Hu Xuan (Entrance of Tang Food Court)
22:40—22:50 Bright Lights of Taibai (Center of Concert Hall and Grand Theater), a grand poetry gathering, children's favorite

The 3-day trip to Xi'an was perfect
The 3-day trip to Xi'an was perfect😍
After reading many travel guides, I customized a relaxing and enjoyable itinerary for myself, focusing on quality over quantity, and definitely not waking up early like a special forces soldier. If you like it, feel free to copy my homework~
Day 1:
I took a morning flight and arrived in Xi'an in the afternoon. The hotel was arranged near Wulukou, just 100 meters from the station and up the stairs (I think the area around Xiaozhai is also good). Just choose the one you like and that fits your budget.
Since my friend wanted to take photos in Hanfu, we got ready in the afternoon, changed clothes, did our makeup, and then went to take photos in the Great Tang All Day Mall. After that, we had some food and went to the Bell and Drum Tower. We spent quite a lot of time taking photos, so we got to the Bell and Drum Tower a bit late, and the lights were off. If you don't take photos in Tang costumes, you'll have enough time and will have a great time.
Day 2:
I got up at around 8 am, got ready, and didn't leave until 9:30 am, heading straight for the delicious food at Sajinqiao. I'll talk about the food in the next post. In the afternoon, we visited the Terracotta Army + The Song of Everlasting Sorrow. I listened to the explanation at the Terracotta Army, and personally, I didn't find it very fun, but I felt it was inappropriate not to see it while in Xi'an. Then, the first show of The Song of Everlasting Sorrow was really beautiful, and it made me want to cry several times (but I held back). The spectacle was grand, visually stunning, and beautifully magnificent. Although it was a bit expensive, it was very worthwhile.
Day 3:
They say it's hard to book tickets for the Shaanxi History Museum, but maybe because I'm a medical worker who has done good deeds, I managed to book after just four or five tries, which was very lucky. The Shaanxi History Museum is huge, and I also found a guide who was very good. Following him, I couldn't see everything, but if I didn't listen to the explanation, some things would just be things I saw. After the explanation, two and a half hours had passed, and I no longer had the energy to revisit the things I had glanced at before.
In the afternoon, I went to the Daxingshan Temple, where my friend prayed for a romantic relationship, which is said to be very effective~ I'm waiting for the good news. Then it was the last meal in Xi'an. Full and satisfied, I went to the airport and flew back home.
In conclusion, there will always be regrets in traveling, and everyone has their preferred way of doing it. As long as you're happy, that's what matters. This trip was rushed, but I really liked it. I stepped on the land of Xi'an and felt like I was standing on the long river of history. Every inch of land tells its story, tracing back thousands of years, heavy and profound. Looking ahead, the path is lush and vibrant.
