Dong Ao Island is located in the center of the Wanshan Islands in Zhuhai, boasting lush vegetation and numerous beaches, exuding a natural and rustic tropical island charm. You can also climb to the Miyue Pavilion on Fudan Mountain for panoramic views, explore the ancient fort and cannon city built during the Qing Dynasty's Qianlong era, or savor fresh and authentic seafood on the island. Nansha Bay – On Dong Ao Island, the beaches are the main attraction. The island boasts three beaches: Nansha Bay, Dazhu Bay, and Xiaozhu Bay, with Nansha Bay being the most famous. Located at Nansha Bay Pier, it requires a short 10-yuan train ride from Dong Ao Bay Pier if you disembark there. The beach features warm, fine sand, where crabs hiding beneath the surface occasionally blow bubbles. You can collect seashells, catch crabs, take photos, or change into your swimsuit and splash in the water. Alternatively, simply relax by the shore, enjoying the refreshing sea breeze and a leisurely stroll. Gazing at the vast ocean always brings a sense of tranquility. Fudan Mountain – Beyond the island's natural charm, Dong Ao Island offers hiking opportunities. Northwest of the beach lies Fudan Mountain, whose main attraction is the Miyue Pavilion. Reaching the pavilion requires climbing 1,008 steps, with its walls adorned with poetry from scholars throughout history. From this vantage point, the Macau-Taipa Bridge is faintly visible. If you stay overnight on the island, you can rise early the next morning to hike up to Miyue Pavilion and catch a breathtaking sunrise. Historical relics – The island also features historical sites worth visiting. In the eastern part of Dong Ao Island, you can discover the ancient fort and cannon city built during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty to resist foreign invasions – the Dong Ao Island Cannon City. Hidden among the layered mountain forests, you'll also find stone carvings with the inscription "Wan Hai Ping Bo" (meaning "peaceful waves across the sea"), which are quite intriguing to explore. Island accommodation - Dong Ao Island has relatively complete facilities. Hotels include Xianquan Mountain Villa (located between Dong'ao Bay and Nansha Bay Pier, in the middle of the island, relatively quiet, suitable for visitors who don't go out at night, and convenient for watching the sunrise) and Dong Ao Island Resort Villa Hotel (located at Nansha Bay Pier, a seaside hotel with the entire island beach, only 200m from the beach), Dong'ao Bay Green Home (located at Dong'ao Bay Pier, a relatively standard small hotel), and the yacht club. Prices generally range from 200–400 yuan/day, usually sold as a package including round-trip boat tickets. You can find agents online. Tents can be rented on the beach for 100 yuan each, including overnight stay. Dining on the island – Seafood is the main fare here, with most fish sourced from the local fishermen's daily catch. Restaurants like Tung Fat Seafood Restaurant, Chiu Kee Seafood Restaurant, and Wing Shing Seafood Restaurant offer reasonably priced meals.
