Introduction to Dong'ao Island
Dong'ao Island is located in the southeastern part of Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, in the central area of the Wanshan Archipelago. It covers a total area of 4.663 square kilometers and is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. It is known as the "Maldives alternative of the Pearl River Delta" and "China's little Saipan." The island has an 80% vegetation coverage, preserving its original ecological environment, with plants such as Huangchan and Sizhaohua. The climate is South Asian subtropical monsoon, with no severe cold in winter and no extreme heat in summer. The peak tourist season is from May to October.
Historically, Dong'ao Island has had human activity since the Shang Dynasty. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was a prosperous island. Existing historical sites include the Dong'ao Gun City, beacon towers, and cliff inscriptions from the Qing Dynasty. Today, the island has well-developed tourism facilities, with ferry routes to Zhuhai Xiangzhou Port, Hengqin Pier, and Shenzhen Shekou Pier (40-50 minutes travel time). There is also a sightseeing bus route around the island. It is a destination that combines natural scenery, history, culture, and romantic vacation experiences.
