I signed up for three one-day tours at an all-inclusive hotel in Cancun. The original price was $800 USD for 2 people, but I later bargained it down to $700 USD for 2 people - 3 groups (you must bargain when signing up for a group). On the first day, we went to Chichen Itza and joined the two cenotes that I wanted to visit the most. The tour bus was super comfortable. I fell asleep as soon as I got on the bus. It was really nice to get up first when I arrived at the scenic spot. Chichen Itza is a beautiful place, however the cost to enter the park should be added to the cost that is advertised. After book, $30 US dollar fee to enter the park. The National park itself was too hot. please wear light shirt or something more thin. Chichen Itza as we know is an ancient Maya city in Mexico that was abandoned in the 15th century. This time, I’ll introduce Chichen Itza, the most famous and easily accessible Mayan ruins in Mexico 🌟 📍Chichen Itza Located on the Yucatan Peninsula, Chichen Itza is a renowned Mayan archaeological site. Fun fact: the ruins inspired the design of the Indiana Jones attraction building at DisneySea! The most common way to visit is from Cancun. I opted for a tour since the cost of transportation was not significantly different from going solo. The tour not only covers Chichen Itza but also includes stops at a cenote, tequila tasting, a Mexican buffet, and visits to charming towns along the way 🌮🍻 The Yucatan Peninsula is a hot and humid region in Mexico, so make sure to prepare for the heat 🫠. On the day I visited, the temperature peaked at 41°C. The sunlight is intense and unlike anything in Japan 🌞. Be cautious as there’s little shade while exploring the ruins. As for the cenote, you can choose whether to swim or not. If you decide to swim, you’ll need to pay extra for a life jacket. Since I can’t swim, I opted to wait outside. There are open-air cafes and restaurants where you can relax during the wait. For those who want to swim, shower facilities are available, so no worries. While English isn’t widely spoken in Mexico, it can be a bit daunting for those unfamiliar with international travel. However, joining a tour ensures that English-speaking staff will guide you through various spots, making it stress-free. Covering so many attractions on the Yucatan Peninsula in just one day makes tours highly recommended ☺️

While on our honeymoon in Cancun, we took a day trip to the World Heritage Site of Chichen Itza. A Japanese guide organized a tour exclusively for Japanese people. (I looked online and found that there weren't many options, so I think most of them were from the same agent! (^^)!) El Castillo (the pyramid), a symbol of Mayan civilization, was even more impressive than it appears in photos; it was breathtaking. The vast grounds are home to temples and ball courts, and it was a valuable experience experiencing the lives and beliefs of ancient people. We also enjoyed swimming in a cenote! The stories of Mayan history were fascinating. Although there were many tourists, the area was spacious and not cramped, and walking while listening to the guide's explanations was more moving than just touring ruins. The sun was very strong, so a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water were essential. From the ball court to the sacred cenote, every corner feels like it’s whispering stories from way back. It gets super hot, though, so come early or late and definitely bring water, a hat, and comfy shoes. The site’s about two hours from Cancún or Mérida, and tours are easy to find if you want a guide to explain all the cool stuff. Even if you’re not a history buff, the scale and vibe of Chichén Itzá will get to you. It’s one of those places that sticks in your head long after you leave.
