#Chand Baori - Jaipur, India
#MarchGoodPlaces2025
Chand Baori is located in Jaipur, India. It is an underground palace with a history of 1,200 years. The palace is about 13 stories deep and has 3,500 steps. The steps are arranged in neat cross-shaped geometric patterns, which is very visually stunning. It is also known as the "inverted pyramid." There are many stone carvings on the ground around the palace, and the craftsmanship is very exquisite. The Indian architectural style is very neat and the order of arrangement is neat. The visual effect is amazing and their artistic ingenuity is amazing.
Chand Baori, a geometric stepwell in the shape of a perfect inverted pyramid

Built a thousand years ago, the mysterious underground palace of India - Chand Baori.
On the way to the Pink City of Jaipur, we first went to the nearby Abhaneri. The destination was naturally this inverted triangle moon well and the Harshat Mata Temple opposite.
This inverted pyramid-like step well is 13 stories deep and has 3,500 steps. It presents an intricate and regular geometric structure and looks very spectacular. It is hard to imagine that it has been well preserved after thousands of years. It can be said to be the deepest and largest underground water well in the world.
The east, west and south sides of the well are geometric steps that extend 30 meters down. The deeper you go, the cooler it feels. On the north side is a corridor-style building with a carving of the Indian goddess of war Durga.
Quite a breathtaking and magnificent building.

A Glimpse into Chand Baori's Timeless Beautyp
Chand Baori, a magnificent stepwell in Abhaneri, Rajasthan, was a delightful side trip during my recent travels. This ancient Indian engineering marvel is a testament to the ingenuity and architectural prowess of its creators.
The symmetrical arrangement of the steps, descending deep into the earth, creates a mesmerizing visual spectacle. The intricate carvings and sculptures adorning the walls add to the overall charm and mystique of the structure. Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, visitors are not allowed to enter the stepwell itself. However, the surrounding area offers stunning views, allowing visitors to appreciate the beauty of this architectural marvel from a distance.
Despite the disappointment of not being able to explore the depths of Chand Baori, the experience of visiting this historic site was truly magical. The tranquility and serenity of the location, combined with the breathtaking views, made it a worthwhile detour from my main itinerary.

Chand baori
I have always wanted to visit Chand Baori after seeing numerous photos in travel magazines.
If ever in Jaipur, this is a place I would highly recommend one visits. It’s only a 2 hour drive out of Jaipur. The Baori, is one of the best in India due to its history, its architecture (symmetrical steps), its photogenic beauty. It really is a wonderful piece of art and the most fascinating thing is that there is very little literature on how it was constructed.

Chand Baori (Step well) Moon Well, Jaipur, India
#WinHongKongTickets I want to go to Hong Kong and drink Hong Kong-style milk tea
Chand Baori (Step well) Moon Well is located in Abali Village, a must-see attraction on the way from Agra to Jaipur.
The Moon Well (inverted pyramid) was built in ancient times because of the climate and the water shortage. The lower level is no longer accessible, so you can only visit the top level. This is also the underground prison scene in Batman 3, so people come here to visit. It is a masterpiece of art.

Impressive Stepwell in India 🇮🇳
#wecreate
On the way to Agra from Jaipur our driver took us to this tiny tourist spot and it was indeed a pleasant surprise. Apparently this is the largest constructed stepwell in India. Amazing isn't it?
We highly suggest to stop here on the way to Agra or the other way around. You must see it in person to truly appreciate its achitectural and engineering beauty and wonder.
This tourist spot requires no entrance fee however you cannot take the steps down to the water.
Enjoy your trip.
