The Sacred Heart Monument, standing atop the ruins of a castle, offers breathtaking views of the city. Among the many historical buildings, the cathedral stands out the most. Its interior showcases Cistercian-style architecture, featuring a stunning Romanesque cloister, a towering altarpiece adorned with 15th-century paintings, numerous chapels with Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque altarpieces, a Romanesque white Virgin Mary sculpture, and Gothic Saint Anne Renaissance altarpieces. Also noteworthy is the Magdalena Romanesque Church, with its beautiful façade and tower; Saint George Church with its ancient cloister and Baroque-style monastery; and Saint Nicholas Church, which houses a Romanesque drum chamber in the Magdalena style.
Among ancestral estates, the Renaissance palace of the Marquis of Saint Adrian is remarkable for its spectacular eaves and staircase, as is the Baroque-style palace of the Marquis of Huarte. Be sure to visit its unique squares, such as Mercadal Square, where you’ll find the Castel Ruíz Municipal Art Center; and the Old Square, also known as Fueros Square, built in the 17th century, overlooking the bell tower and decorated with ceramic emblems and bullfighting scenes.
