Well, how can I claim to be in Melbourne when I don't visit the famous Brighton Bathing Box! I took an uber there and it was freezing the day I went. One of the tiny boxes was sold for $700,000 during the period I went. Based on information, people purchase the boxes here to keep their surfing equipment in the box as this is a popular place for surfing during the summer. Many of the boxes are painted artistically. Great to chill here if the weather allows! If not, I will suggest just spending 15 minutes here to take some photos and enjoy the sea breeze. #australiatrip

📍Address: Brighton Bathing Box We took subway from town to the beach (approximately 1.10 hours and cost for AUD$5 per way) It is just a 10 minutes walk away from the station. We went during end of winter season, so the weather is nice. Good place to spend with families or couple. It was an unplanned trip to here so we didn’t prepare swimming suit and sandals 😅 But overall is a great experience here! #brightonbeach

Definitely a must visit when visiting Melbourne! It was windy and cold but we had loads of fun!

There are a total of 80 or so cottages in the area, mostly on city property, with a small number purchased by local residents for their own use. Definitely worth a visit in a good weather. Beautiful, brightly colored bath boxes which are very IG-worthy. Try getting there early to avoid the hordes of tourists. Overall, worth the visit and you also get to see big and old houses in the Brighton area.
