In many parks in Beijing, China, from July to August, you can enjoy lotus flowers that can only be seen during the summer season. This time, I went to Beihai Park (北海公园) to see lotus flowers. The entrance fee to Beihai Park is 10 yuan per adult, and if you include the entrance fee to the White Tower, it is 20 yuan per person. It was a summer day with blue skies and a cool breeze, so it was really nice to see the lotus flowers. Walking along the lake in the center of Beihai Park in Beihai Park and looking at the green lotus flowers and the lotus flowers in full bloom is just so happy!! The Beihai park is one of my favorite places in Beijing. It’s always nice to stroll around and take in the views and have a break from the city life. It’s also very fun to rent a small (pedal)boat to cruise around the lake. There are great walking paths with many benches around and a few colorful and serene temples to visit. You can also hike to a higher point for a view over the lake. There are many facilities (toilets, little shops, food/snacks/drinks etc) around. Just in between the Drum tower and Imperial Palace is where this green space is situated. We loved spotting all the old palace structures dotted around the park, and even got to find the hidden 9 dragon tablet which is tucked away in some trees. Climb up to the Tibetan style mountain tower for a beautiful view of the forbidden palace. The park is only 5 yuan entry in off peak season (but still only 10 yuan per person in peak season starting in April) we highly recommend a visit.

A beautifully windy afternoon at the BeiHai Park. Getting There - I took bus number 128 from CiQuKou Metro station bus stop to BeiHai Park Bus Stop. Attractions - Everywhere you turn there is something new and even more beautiful to see. Shopping & Food- In the park I saw a gift shop where you can get souvenirs and there were also 2 restaurants from what I saw. You may have heard of Beihai Park with its huge lake and white stupa. It's a beautiful park but very busy with tourists and locals. When you buy your park ticket don't forget to visit the temples and rooms near the entrance. It's not obvious, but up up some stairs to the side you'll find a calm area with a handful of beautifully decorated buildings. We went during golden week and it was deserted, in contrast to the park. Entrance is 10¥ and if you are a foreigner, you need to call in advance on number: 6403 7972 to make an appointment. They will ask you for your passport number and name, also gate which you will use to enter. I recommend to enter by the South Gate, when you bet there go to the office on the right side of the entrance to pick up your ticket. Tell them when sis you call if yesterday or today to make reservations, it will help them to search your name. Also sometimes they speak English, but it’s better to ask your Chinese speaking friend to make the call. After entering you have all this beautiful, calm and clean park to explore, watch elderly people in their rituals or enjoy a boat ride. Half an hour on a shared boat with 7 people is 40 yuan. This might be my favourite place to go any time of the year. Flowers in the spring, snow and ice in the winter, leaves changing colour in autumn and just beautiful in the spring. A ticket is only about ¥5 which means I don’t feel bad going back frequently and every-time I go I see something new or at least it looks new because the environment has changed. It’s not far from the trains or downtown so it’s easy to get to and find dinner after. If you wanted a full day there is plenty to see in the area as well but if you wanted to you could simply spend the whole day no problem. I love the white pagoda from all angels and I have 100 photos to prove it! #thisischina

Let us row a Boat at Beihai Park.  The first time I learned about Beihai Park was because of a song I heard in my childhood, Let's scull... and from a textbook about Beihai Park in elementary school.  At that time, I knew that there is a Baita Temple in Beihai Park. Beihai Park is behind the Forbidden City. There are two gates one in the north and one in the south. If you want to go to Baita Temple, you should go to the South Gate. However, the North Gate will take you to the White Pagoda Temple. Beihai Park is very large, serene and quiet. In addition to the Baita Temple, there are also some other ancient pavilions and plaques around here. The most tourist here are elderly or people with children.

In Beijing, I was impressed by the grandeur of the Forbidden City, the magnificence of the Great Wall, and the solemn atmosphere at the Temple of Heaven. The city preserves its traditional Chinese spirit, from architecture to cuisine—with iconic dishes like Peking duck and savory meat-filled dumplings. Leaving Beijing, I took a high-speed train to Tianjin—only about 30 minutes, but a memorable experience. Tianjin has a distinctly European charm with French and Italian-style buildings lining the Haihe River. The city feels open and modern, perfect for strolling, relaxing, and tasting local street food like fried buns stuffed with meat or hand-pulled noodles. #beijing #tianjin

Beijing is a city where ancient history meets modern skyscrapers, and we got to experience both. From walking the Great Wall to exploring imperial palaces and futuristic buildings, here’s how our trip went: Jinshanling Great Wall – The Ultimate Hike We visited the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall, and it was 100% worth it. Compared to the more touristy Badaling section, Jinshanling is quieter, with breathtaking views and less crowds. The hike was challenging, with steep steps, but walking along the unrestored parts of the Wall made it feel even more special. Imperial China: Palaces & Temples ✔️ Forbidden City – An absolute must-see! The size and grandeur of this ancient palace were insane. It’s best to book tickets in advance and go early to avoid crowds. ✔️ Summer Palace – A beautiful escape from the city, with stunning lakes, temples, and gardens. We walked along the Long Corridor and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. ✔️ Temple of Heaven – One of the most iconic temples in China, where emperors once prayed for good harvests. The circular Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests was our favorite spot. ✔️ Winter Palace (Beihai Park) – A lesser-known but beautiful imperial retreat with a huge lake and a white pagoda on an island. Modern Beijing: Skyscrapers & Olympic Legacy ✔️ Bird’s Nest Stadium – The architecture of this stadium from the 2008 Olympics was impressive, especially when lit up at night. ✔️ CBD Skyline & Beijing’s Tallest Building – We explored the Central Business District (CBD) and saw the China Zun Tower (CITIC Tower), the tallest building in Beijing. The futuristic skyline was a stark contrast to the historical sites we visited.
