Art Resonates with the City: A New Cultural Experience at Kyobashi's Artizon Museum and TODA BUILDING
Located in Tokyo's Kyobashi district, the Artizon Museum, formerly known as the Bridgestone Museum of Art, reopened in 2020 as a modern art museum. True to its name, derived from "Art" + "Horizon," the museum serves as a platform to expand the horizons of art, hosting diverse exhibitions that focus on modern and contemporary art from Japan and abroad.
Current exhibitions include a special showcase of works by Swiss avant-garde artists Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Jean Arp, as well as a feature exhibition on the works of Inosuke Maso. Additionally, highlights from the Ishibashi Foundation Collection are on display, offering visitors a rich artistic experience.
Adjacent to the Artizon Museum is the TODA BUILDING, a new cultural complex that opened in 2024. This facility serves as a hub for art, featuring galleries and event spaces. One of its notable initiatives is the use of the first-floor entrance lobby and corridors for art events. For instance, "APK PUBLIC Vol.1," running from November 2, 2024, to March 2026, showcases art in public spaces, providing visitors with fresh perspectives.
The galleries within TODA BUILDING also host various solo exhibitions by artists. From March 22 to May 2, 2025, the KOSAKU KANECHIKA gallery will feature Hiroto Tomonaga's "Lightning," while the Tomio Koyama Gallery Kyobashi will present Richard Tuttle's "San, Shi, Go" during the same period.
Together, the Artizon Museum and TODA BUILDING offer a unique cultural experience where art and urban spaces converge. When visiting Kyobashi, be sure to explore these facilities and rediscover the charm of the city through art.
