Day and Night of Podgorica
After few days of windy and cloudy weather, finally I have a great glimpse of the beauty of Podgorica with a good weather day and night.
This is my first trip to Montenegro, my impression of the capital city is livable and people are friendly, willing to help and support each other. The surrounding area of the capital has many parks where you can spend outdoor time when weather is good.
Love Podgorica, love Montenegro 🇲🇪.

The capital of Montenegro
this capital is not as well-known as other capitals in other European cities. This is my first time came to podgorica as a stopover. the city itself is actually really peaceful and beautiful. the millennium bridge opened in 2015, the design is really modern. The view from that bridge is also stunning, which you can overlook the city that located by the side of River Moraça.
the centre is not too big, yet there are several bridges you can walk across to enjoy the view. there are also lots of parks around. you will find lots of benches for you to sit and relax.
there are some view points you can walk up, where you can overlook the city and the mountains behind.
overall, if you have time, come to check the city out#passionpassport #gooutside #bucketlistreboot #mountainview

Montenegro
Another secluded part of Europe, came here from Geneva, Switzerland. My local friend brought me to this place and of course, I pay her for it.
This place seems like an island with houses surrounding the area. Green water, close with nature and mountain. I love the views! We can't get this kind of view in Asia, although it remind me a bit of great wall in China due to long path & wall area.
Do bring water to hydrate yourself, it's a little bit of "exercise" while exploring the area. Won't regret coming here for sure!

Here are some pictures of the infamous capital of Montenegro - Podgorica. Many tourists visit the sea coast of the country but miss the small city of Podgorica (yes, it is the capital). Actually there weren't many sights, but I found interesting the bridges along the river and also the main square of the town. It is also lively in the evenings.

Podgorica Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, Montenegro.
Due to damage during World War II, Podgorica was mostly built after the war. Podgorica Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, is the largest Orthodox church in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. Construction of the church began in 1993 and was completed on October 7, 2014. The church was built to commemorate the 1,700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, which was the beginning of the Roman Empire's official tolerance of Christianity. The church's exterior is grand and simple, with many golden crosses on the roof, three bell towers on the front, and a unique semicircular arched door. The interior is resplendent, with the dome and walls covered with various biblical stories, figures, and major events in the Orthodox Church. The designer of the church was ingenious, using white marble for the exterior walls, incorporating both Byzantine elements and ancient Roman art.

Discovering the Hidden Gems of Podgorica
Exploring Podgorica was a unique experience! Loved visiting the Ribnica River Bridge, Millennium Bridge, and the Orthodox Temple of Christ's Resurrection. The real highlight was the Nijagara Waterfalls – definitely worth the trip! Not a city with many sights, but the places I visited were definitely memorable.

Podgorica: Europe's Most Boring Capital
Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, is often overlooked by travelers who prefer the country's more famous coastal towns and picturesque mountain villages. However, this city, located at the confluence of the Ribnica and Morača rivers, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. While it may not have as many tourist attractions as other European capitals, Podgorica's charm lies in its simplicity and authenticity, making it a worthwhile destination for those looking to experience the true essence of Montenegro.
Podgorica has a rich and diverse history that dates back to Roman times when it was known as Birziminium. Over the centuries, it has been influenced by various civilizations, including the Byzantine, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian empires. Due to its strategic location, the city has historically been an important military and trade center. During World War II, Podgorica suffered severe bombings and underwent extensive reconstruction post-war. Today, the city reflects a mix of architectural styles, from Ottoman-era mosques to modernist buildings, showcasing its diverse historical influences.
Dubbed 'Europe's Most Boring Capital,' this title stems from its lack of iconic landmarks and relatively subdued nightlife. The post-war reconstruction led to a more utilitarian urban landscape, with many buildings reflecting the functionalist style of the socialist era. Additionally, Podgorica's small scale and slower pace of life contribute to this reputation. However, this perception overlooks the city's hidden gems and the warm hospitality of its residents, which can provide a pleasant and relaxing experience.
Despite its reputation, Podgorica has several attractions worth exploring. The Millennium Bridge, a modern structure spanning the Morača River, is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. The Old Town (Stara Varoš) showcases Podgorica's Ottoman past with its narrow streets, historic mosques, and traditional houses. For nature lovers, the nearby Skadar Lake National Park, the largest lake in Southern Europe, offers stunning scenery and opportunities for bird watching, boating, and hiking.

Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro known for its church and bridge
Podgorica is the capital of the Republic of Montenegro, located on the Moraca River in the Skutari Basin in the southeast of Montenegro, and is the political and economic center of Montenegro. It is about 98 kilometers by car from the old town of Kotor, the road is not very good, and it took us 1 hour and 52 minutes.
Podgorica is a rapidly developing city with complete facilities and is the city with the most development potential in Montenegro. The church and bridge are must-visit landmarks here.
🏛 Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ:
Construction began in 1933, fulfilling the long-standing spiritual wishes and needs of Orthodox Christians. The exterior of the church is simple, but the interior has great architectural and artistic value, with its exquisite decorations, stone sculptures, frescoes, icon paintings, mosaics, and wood carvings, it has become a unique church in the entire Orthodox world! After visiting, I was quite shocked, speechless at the delicacy~ It is the most classic Orthodox church I have ever seen, being someone who is rarely amazed.
🌉 Millennium Bridge:
The Millennium Bridge over the Moraca River is a uniquely designed white cable-stayed bridge, which was opened on Montenegro's National Day in 2005. The bridge is 173 meters long and is a landmark of Podgorica, as well as the boundary between the new town and the old town.
Locals said that on the day the Millennium Bridge opened, the entire capital celebrated wildly, with fireworks and firecrackers celebrating 🥳 into the late night...
Of course, for someone like me who comes from Chongqing, a city of bridges, I've seen too many bridges to be very interested. I would rather spend more time appreciating the exquisite interior of the church.

Beautiful Skadar Lake in Montenegro
Stunning along every inch of the lake and the river which flows into it. Good value boat trips from local villages available, can see plenty of birds and wildlife along with the amazing scenery you come to expect from the whole country. Beautiful way to spend a day out of your holiday to Montenegro. Beware of some of the local roads though, not for the faint hearted!
