You can easily apply online, so it's best to do it before you leave. 2️⃣ Cash is essential, but be careful not to exchange too much. Although more and more places accept cards, local shops and buses require **cash (Sri Lankan rupees)**. The trick is to exchange only a small amount at the airport and look for a place in the city with a good rate. 3️⃣ Use a SIM or pocket Wi-Fi for the internet! If you're staying for a long time, I recommend a local SIM. You can easily get one at the airport or at a mobile phone shop in the city. Dialog and Mobitel are the standard. 4️⃣ Negotiate the price when using a tuk-tuk. Ideally, it should have a meter, but if it doesn't, negotiate the price in advance!
