Located in Lampang Luang Subdistrict, Ko Kha District, this temple has been around since the time of Queen Chamadevi, around the end of the 20th Buddhist century. It is considered one of the most complete wooden temples in Thailand. It has ancient and beautiful architecture. It is also the chedi for people born in the year of the Ox. Construction began in the year of the Ox and was completed in the year of the Ox as well. Interesting things in the temple include: - Phra That Lampang Luang has a lotus bud base. The chedi is round in the Lanna style. The outside is covered with gold leaf. The top of the umbrella is made of gold. There are carved and embossed patterns in various styles. This type of chedi is the prototype for Phra That Hariphunchai and Phra Borommathat Chom Thong. Inside the chedi are hair and relics from the right forehead, the front and back of the neck. The area around the brass fence of the chedi has bullet holes from where Nan Thip, the elephant, fought with Thao Mahayot. - Wihan Luang is a large temple built in 2019 by Chao Muen Kham Pek. Inside, there is a golden castle arch where Phra Chao Lan Thong is enshrined. At the back, Phra Chao Tan Jai is enshrined. On the wooden panels of Kho Song are beautiful old paintings of the Ten Lives of the Buddha and the Brahma Chakra. - Wihan Phra Phuttha was originally an open temple with a flower-patterned pediment with stained glass. It is at least 700 years old. Inside, there is a large principal Buddha image, a Buddha in the Mara-Vijaya attitude. The building is made of brick and mortar in the Chiang Saen art style. The shadow of the chedi can also be seen inside the temple. - Wihan Nam Taem or Wihan Pa Tua Chok (Painted Picture Temple). “Taem” means painting. It was built in 2044. This old temple is open inside with no ceiling. It retains the beautiful style of Thai architecture. The wall next to the principal Buddha image is painted with gold patterns on a red lacquer background. There is an old Lanna-style painting on a Kho Song wooden panel, the only one left in Thailand. At present, the paintings have faded a lot and enshrined a bronze Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, 1.25 meters wide and 1.25 meters high. - The footprint niche, built to cover the Buddha’s footprint, with a layered base similar to a pagoda base, built in 1992. Inside, you can see the refraction of light, appearing as the shadow of the chedi and the temple from an upside-down angle. However, women are not allowed to enter. - The Phra Kaew Monastery, enshrining the Emerald Buddha, which is at least 400 years old. - The Wihan of Phra Chao Sila, enshrining Phra Chao Sila, the oldest Buddha image in Lavop. In 1275 B.E., it was given to and enshrined by the father of Queen Chamadevi in this place. - The museum, collecting rare artifacts from various places, such as the Sangkhet, the pulpit, the carrying poles, and the Tripitaka cabinet, etc. In addition, Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is also home to “Phra Kaew Don Tao” (Emerald Buddha), the Buddha image of Lampang Province.
