In the history of Lampang City, Wat Phra That Lampang Luang has a history that in the year 2275, Lampang City was without a ruler and there was chaos. At that time, Burma was powerful and had expanded its influence to rule the entire Lanna Kingdom. Burma occupied Chiang Mai and Lamphun by appointing the rulers of the city under the rule of the Burmese king. Thao Mahayot, the ruler of Lampang City, led his forces to seize Lampang City and set up a camp inside Wat Phra That Lampang Luang. At that time, Nan Thip Chang, a villager from Pong Yang Khok (now in Hang Chat District), a hero of Lampang people, gathered his troops to fight against the army of Chao Mahayot by sneaking into the temple and shooting Thao Mahayot to death. Then, the Lampang army was defeated. Today, there are still bullet marks on the brass fence surrounding the Phra That Chedi. Later, Nan Thip Chang was established as Phraya Sula Wa Lue Chai Songkhram, the ruler of Lampang City and was the ancestor of the Na family. 🐻 Travel with Bear 2021 X Take a trip to Lampang to worship at Wat Phra That Lampang Luang 🙏 #BearVisitsNorth #FirstTimeVisitingLampang 💭❤️😷 Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is located in Lampang Luang Subdistrict Municipality, Ko Kha District, Lampang Province. It is approximately 18 kilometers southwest of Lampang city. The temple is located on a high hill. The layout and components of the temple are very complete. There are various buildings and architectures. The Buddhavas area consists of Phra That Lampang Luang as the main building. There are naga stairs leading up to the Khong Gate arch. After the Khong Gate arch is the Luang Temple. To the north of the chedi are the Nam Taem Temple and the Ton Kaew Temple. To the west of the chedi is the Lavo Temple and the Phra Phutthabat Hall. To the south is the Phra Phuttha Temple and the Ubosot. All of these are surrounded by a glass wall on all four sides. Outside the southern glass wall, there is a door leading to the Sanghawat area, which consists of buildings, the Tripitaka Hall, and the monks' residences. Phra Kaew Don Tao, Museum Building and Monks' Quarters (wikipedi) 📱 The pictures I have brought for you all are: - Pratu Khong is a beautiful work of ancient royal craftsmen, made of brick and mortar, with pointed arches in four directions, decorated with stucco patterns, flowers and animals from the Himalayas. Pratu Khong is used as a symbol of Lampang in the Lampang provincial seal. - Wihan Nam Taem is a satellite shrine located to the north of Phra That Chedi. It is a rectangular wooden shrine with beautiful shapes and proportions. Inside the second column, there are old ancient paintings. It is the place where a bronze Buddha statue with a lap width of 45 inches is enshrined. - Phra That Chedi is a Lanna-style chedi made of brick and mortar, consisting of a square base with three-tiered lotus garlands. It is a large chedi covered with brass sheets, carved in a pattern or what is called Thong Jangko. According to legend, it is where the relics of the Lord Buddha are enshrined. - Phra Kaew's Quarters are where the Emerald Buddha is enshrined. It is unknown who built it and when. But it is estimated to be no less than 400 years old. ☝Here is the pagoda for the year of birth, the year of the Ox, according to the beliefs of the Lanna people. 📱Wat Phra That Lampang Luang 🐻Address: 271 Tambon Lampang Luang, Amphoe Ko Kha, Lampang 52130 ⏰Opening - closing hours: 07.30 - 17.00 hrs.
