The Eastern Qing Tombs cover an area of ​​80 square kilometers, including five imperial tombs (Xiaoling of Emperor Shunzhi, Jingling of Emperor Kangxi, Yuling of Emperor Qianlong, Dingling of Emperor Xianfeng and Huiling of Emperor Tongzhi), four empresses' tombs (including the Empress Dowagers East (Ci'an) and West (Cixi)), five concubines' gardens and one princesses' tomb. A total of 15 empresses, 136 concubines, 3 princes and 2 princesses, a total of 161 people, were buried there. 114 years ago today, on the fourth day of October in the first year of the Xuantong reign (1909), Cixi was buried in the Dingdong Mausoleum in Putuo Valley. The Qing Dynasty fell just two years after the burial. Cixi was born on October 10, 1835, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Emperor Daoguang. She entered the palace at the age of 18 and was the de facto supreme ruler of the Qing Dynasty during the Tongzhi and Guangxu periods. She died on October 22, the thirty-fourth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, at the age of 74. Just 19 years after she was buried, the underground palace of Cixi's mausoleum was looted. The tomb robbers destroyed the coffin and discarded the body, and looted all the burial objects. To this day her body is a mummy, still in the coffin.
