Zhongshan Cuisine - Matsumoto Japanese Restaurant and Tan Tang.

As a Macao resident, Zhongshan is close, but I rarely visit it more than once a year. In March, I took a Saturday high-speed train to Zhongshan to enjoy some delicious food and visit the malls. The experience was quite pleasant. This time, I want to recommend two eateries: one Japanese restaurant and one dessert shop. I didn't do any prior research; my friend took me there, but both exceeded my expectations. They are conveniently located on opposite sides of the same street. 1/ Matsumoto Japanese Restaurant: This place needs no introduction; it's a famous Japanese restaurant in Zhongshan. I visited the Lihe store, which is about a 5-minute walk from the mall. I called to make a reservation at 12:30 PM and was told to place an order and pay through the WeChat mini-program before dining. Quite a big deal 😏 Luckily, we had some free time and booked for 5 PM. By 7 PM, the place was already full. My friend particularly wanted to try the foie gras sushi, which costs 8 RMB per piece. It was incredibly delicious, with a fragrant sear and just the right amount of oiliness without being greasy. The sauce complemented it well. I usually don't eat foie gras, but after trying it, I wanted more. Since we didn't do any research, we randomly ordered some sushi. The crab roe sushi is also worth recommending; it was fresh and sweet without any fishy taste. Good~ The total bill was only 164 RMB, and the cost-performance ratio is 5 stars~🤣 I will definitely visit again^^ 2/ Tan Tang: Located across the street from Matsumoto, it's convenient. The business is booming; within the 3 hours I was there, the shop was always full. As soon as one group left, another quickly took their place. However, you don't have to worry about waiting too long for a seat because the turnover rate is high. You can finish a bowl of dessert within half an hour. We ordered the caramel double-skin milk and pistachio paste, both of which are highly recommended. The caramel double-skin milk isn't overly sweet; the sweetness mainly comes from the caramel, while the double-skin milk itself isn't sweet, making it a perfect combination. The pistachio paste is topped with some pecans. It was my first time trying this type of dessert, and it was surprisingly delicious. It wasn't overly sweet, and the pistachio flavor was prominent. No wonder it's so famous.
