Memorial Hall of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japan

The Memorial Hall of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japan is located in Qili Bridge, Zhijiang Town, Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County, Hunan Province. On August 15, 1945, the Japanese government announced its unconditional surrender. From August 21 to 23, the surrender ceremony for the China war zone of Japan took place in Zhijiang County, Hunan Province. The invading Japanese army handed over its troop deployment map here and accepted a memorandum containing detailed provisions for the Japanese surrender, historically known as the "Zhijiang Surrender." The Surrender Memorial Arch was built in February 1946 and is a symbol of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japan, as well as an important historical witness to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. It is known as the "Chinese Arc de Triomphe." The museum has a rich collection, with 5,139 items as of May 2024, including 207 precious cultural relics. Among them, the nine-drawer table used at the surrender ceremony is a national first-class cultural relic. The museum's basic display, "Witness to Victory," takes the Zhijiang surrender as the main line and is divided into five parts: Victory of Justice, Historical Choice of Zhijiang, Zhijiang Surrender, National Surrender, and the Surrender City of Historical Achievements. It vividly reproduces this major historical event of the Zhijiang surrender by using rich historical relics and modern display methods. The museum is a national patriotic education base, a national key cultural relics protection unit, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, a national defense education demonstration base, a Chinese Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese education base, a cross-strait exchange base, a national red tourism classic scenic spot, and a national ethnic unity and progress education base.
