Zhaoqing: To appreciate the scenery is also to seek the classics

Zhaoqing has been in my childhood memories, known from the picture albums as the Seven Star Crags. Zhaoqing was formerly known as Duanzhou, the birthplace of the Duan inkstones. The name Zhaoqing comes from Emperor Huizong of Song, who ascended to the throne and personally inscribed the three characters 'Zhaoqing Prefecture', which is the origin of the name Zhaoqing. Zhaoqing combines urban landscapes with natural scenery. The most renowned attractions include the Seven Star Crags, Dinghu Mountain, the Revolutionary Martyr Ye Ting's Independent Regiment's Northern Expedition starting point at Yuejiang Tower, and the Song Dynasty city walls. Zhaoqing has a developed transportation network, only a 90-minute drive from Guangzhou, with convenient access by self-driving, train, and coach.
