Choosing a homestay in Zhangjiajie was overwhelming, but I finally booked this Jianshan Resort Homestay, which truly made me feel like I was "living in the scenery" on this trip! The road from the highway to the homestay is easy to drive, the navigation is super accurate, and the parking lot is free, making it effortless to carry luggage~ Location is perfect! The homestay is right near the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, just a 10-minute walk to the ticket station. It’s super convenient to visit Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain without having to wake up early every day to catch a bus. The best part is the guest room balcony. In the morning, when you open the curtains, you can see clouds swirling around the green mountains, like stepping into the world of Avatar. In the evening, you can catch an orange-scented sunset, and every photo you take with your phone looks like wallpaper. Homestay atmosphere: The overall design is a mix of natural wood and forest style. The lobby has huge floor-to-ceiling windows, with rattan sofas and green plants, making it comfortable just to sit and have a cup of tea. The common areas are very thoughtful: there’s a free luggage storage area on the first floor, a terrace on the second floor for drying clothes, and a small reading corner that’s perfect for cozying up with a book on rainy days. The owner’s family is very warm and welcoming. When we arrived, they handed us warm towels and Zhangjiajie’s special berry tea. In the evening, they chatted with us about travel tips, telling us which spots to avoid crowds and where to catch the best sunrise—more detailed than any guide I made myself! Room experience I booked the mountain view twin room, which was very spacious. The bedding was soft and felt like being wrapped in clouds, making for a very good night’s sleep. Facilities are complete: the air conditioning cools quickly, so it’s not stuffy in summer; there’s a smart toilet, a Dyson hairdryer, and even herbal-scented toiletries that feel very comfortable to use. There’s a small tea table by the window. In the morning, brewing the berry tea the owner gave us while looking at the mountain view outside is incredibly soothing. The cleanliness was impeccable, with freshly changed sheets and duvet covers, and the bathroom was spotless with no odors. Dining Breakfast is freshly made every day, featuring Xiangxi rice noodles, Tujia-style Artemisia cakes, eggs, and soy milk, with generous portions that keep you full until noon. If you want local dishes, just tell the owner in advance, and they can prepare them for you. We tried their cured meat stir-fried with bracken and the “three-pot” dish, which tasted very authentic—better than restaurants in the scenic area and reasonably priced. If you get up early, the owner will also cook corn and sweet potatoes, all from local farmers, which taste especially sweet. Nearby activities: 1. It’s recommended to visit Wulingyuan Scenic Area in the morning to avoid tour groups. The homestay helps plan routes, saving time and effort; 2. For popular photo spots, the owner will tell you exact locations, like Hallelujah Mountain in Yuanjiajie and Xihai Peak Forest in Tianzi Mountain, and remind you of the best times to shoot; 3. At night, you can stroll around nearby Xibu Street, a 20-minute walk, where you can buy souvenirs and snacks in a lively atmosphere. Check-in tips 1. Book the mountain view room early! Especially in peak season, it’s impossible to get one if you’re late; 2. Zhangjiajie has a big temperature difference between morning and night, so even in summer, remember to bring a light jacket; 3. If you’re driving, don’t worry about getting lost—the owner will send detailed location and route info, and if you can’t find it, they’ll come pick you up.
