Zezhou Chongshou Temple, a National Key Cultural Relic

Shanxi is home to many ancient buildings, and its pre-Song Dynasty architecture is unrivaled in China. Jincheng is home to many ancient buildings, including many of the most durable and impressive Song Dynasty structures. Song Dynasty architecture inherited the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty and opened the way for the elegant style of the Song Dynasty. With its ancient wood color and flying eaves, a wooden building is like a little girl who can be dressed up in any way you like, whether in its original form or with light or heavy makeup. However, the makeup is a bit overdone... 📸 Highlights: First, the mountain gate built on a high place, then the bell and drum tower, where you can overlook the main building of Chongshou Temple. Rebuilt in the first year of the Xuanhe period of the Song Dynasty (1119), it was repaired many times during the Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. The architectural style is regular, and the oldest existing building is the Shijia Hall in the middle hall, which is simple in style and has Song Dynasty inscriptions on the eaves columns, preserving the characteristics and style of Song Dynasty architecture. The only thing that stands out is the painted wooden structure of the walls, which is obviously a later addition and lacks the charm of returning to the original. The rear hall is the Leiyin Hall, with five rooms, and a plaque from the second year of the Zhizheng period of the Yuan Dynasty (1342) is preserved in the middle room.
