Exploring the Vast Daiyang Ancient Town

#favouriteitinerary During my visit to Daiyang Ancient Town, I was struck by its immense size and abundance of historical architecture. It's a great representation of Shanxi's traditional residences, though it doesn't have the fame of places like Pingyao. I even spotted a few unique cave dwellings, adding to the town's charm. The town wasn't crowded with tourists or commercial activities. Many houses were uninhabited, reflecting a common trend in many ancient towns. While the peaceful atmosphere was pleasant, a bit more commercial activity could help attract visitors and maintain the buildings. I also enjoyed a delicious bowl of noodles at a nearby restaurant. It was my first time trying noodles with fresh leek, which added a unique flavor. This local specialty was quite different from what I'd experienced in the south. Overall, Daiyang Ancient Town left a lasting impression with its rich history and unique atmosphere.
