Spent a weekend in Yuyao just for this heritage-style hotel

I'd heard about the newly opened Guantang Hotel in Yuyao, Ningbo for a while. With its abundant experiential activities, especially intangible cultural heritage programs, I'd been wanting to bring my kids here. Finally made it happen last month. Those familiar with Kaiyuan Group know their Guantang brand represents mid-to-high-end properties with strong local cultural characteristics, often featuring heritage architecture. The Yangming Guantang in Yuyao is no exception - it has three completely restored ancient buildings (now named Gengdu Hall, Sixi Hall, and Chengqing Hall), while other structures follow Huizhou architectural style for a uniformly vintage vibe. But heritage doesn't mean kid-unfriendly! Our two-day itinerary kept us entirely within the hotel yet constantly engaged - the best part? Adults didn't get exhausted. Arrived at noon for check-in. Got upgraded to a loft room - spacious, clean and super comfortable. Received two complimentary photo experience vouchers at reception (including styling, outfits and 2-hour photoshoot). First stop: the hotel playground. They have both indoor and outdoor options - we chose outdoor for more sunshine. After playground, took the adjacent rice field train ride and tried fruit picking. Dinner around 6pm at the hotel restaurant (you can request shuttle service if unfamiliar with routes). Did my research - their vegetables mostly come from their own garden, very healthy. Next morning had breakfast buffet at same restaurant - impressed by their selection of local intangible cultural heritage foods. 10am: Mr. Fu's heritage architecture lecture. Understanding the stories behind these exquisite buildings made them even more precious - like a mini research trip 😄 Then tried lacquer fan painting and Liangnong rice cake making - got to bring our creations home! Lunch at the hotel's Yaowei Noodle House, famous for their yellow croaker noodles. Service was slow but staff explained each bowl is cooked fresh by the chef - the deliciousness made up for the wait! Headed home in afternoon, but if you have time, the hotel pool (opening end June) would be perfect for relaxation.
