Yunyang Panshi City Ruins Park Grand Opening

On September 29, the "First Fortress of the Yangtze River" carrying the memory of civilization—the Yunyang Panshi City Ruins Park—grandly opened! Originally built in the second year of the Chunyou era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1242), it is one of the best-preserved Song Dynasty mountain city defense sites in China. Together with Wanzhou Tiansheng City and others, it forms the strategic defense system of the Yangtze River Three Gorges. The existing ruins include city walls and fortress gates. In 2000, it was listed as one of Chongqing's first municipal-level cultural relic protection units, and in 2024, it was included in China's tentative list for World Cultural Heritage. The park was created following the principle of "restoring the old as it was," with a newly built sightseeing elevator directly reaching the fortress top, connecting the Song and Yuan dynasty city wall trails, mountain trails, and the ancient pear orchard.
