The Xiluo Bridge was completed in December 1952 and officially opened to traffic in January of the following year. The bridge is 1,939.03 meters long and 7.32 meters wide. It uses a Warren through-bridge steel frame and concrete piers with 31 spans and 32 piers. In the early days, there was a special railway for the sugar industry on the Xiluo Bridge, which formed the phenomenon of railway and highway running parallel to each other. Later, the sugar industry railway was demolished on the grounds that it hindered traffic. Before the Taiwan Highway was widened, Xiluo Bridge was an important transportation hub. It was a must-pass place for vehicles traveling from the south and the north, and it also contributed to the prosperity of Xiluo Town. The convenience of Taiwan Highway and the widened Taiwan Highway have caused this once glorious bridge to gradually fade away. The bridge was closed to vehicles for a while, but was later opened to traffic. The fiery red color is the symbol of the Xiluo Bridge, and it carries the memories of countless drivers. In addition to being open to traffic, the bridge also provides value for sightseeing and allows the younger generation to know about the unprecedented grandeur of the Xiluo Bridge at that time.
