Yunnan Lijiang｜The Stunning Blue Moon Valley, How to Explore Without Backtracking

📍Blue Moon Valley in Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area, Lijiang, Yunnan Tickets: Mountain entry fee 100 RMB + shuttle bus 20 RMB Transportation: Public transport: Take the 101 special line; self-driving or taxi: navigate to "Yulong Snow Mountain Visitor Center," self-driving can park at P3 parking lot, which is close to the visitor center. Recommended duration: Half a day to one day. 【Blue Moon Valley No-Backtracking Route】 Most guides suggest getting off at Shuiyue Pavilion station in Blue Moon Valley, but this stop is in the middle of the valley, requiring you to go upstream and then backtrack. Now, we recommend another downhill, less tiring route without backtracking: 1. Enter the scenic area and purchase the mountain entry ticket. 2. Arrive at the visitor center and buy the shuttle bus ticket (if only visiting Blue Moon Valley, buy the Blue Moon Valley special line ticket). 3. Take the Blue Moon Valley shuttle bus and get off at the first stop, Yunshanping. 4. Walk along the right side of the downhill main road, turn right when you see the "Blue Moon Valley" sign to enter the Blue Moon Valley area. Yunshanping station (get off) ➡️ (walk into Blue Moon Valley area) ➡️ Baishu River ➡️ Baishuitai ➡️ Baishui Bridge ➡️ Yuye Lake (the bluest lake) ➡️ Waterfall ➡️ Jingtan Lake ➡️ Small Waterfall ➡️ Small Pavilion (great spot for photos of Yuye Lake) ➡️ Shuiyue Pavilion station (board bus for return) ➡️ Blue Moon Lake ➡️ Tingtao Lake Tips: 1. It’s best to visit on a sunny day for the most beautiful views of the snow mountain and lakes. 2. To see the snow mountain and blue lakes, visit between January and March. 3. No need to bring an oxygen tank if only visiting Blue Moon Valley. 4. It’s not recommended to take the Blue Moon Valley sightseeing electric cart; although it saves walking, you’ll miss some scenery unless you’re short on time or energy. 5. After taking the Yunshanping cable car, you can also follow the above route to explore Blue Moon Valley.
