📍兰州水墨丹霞 – an absolutely surreal and lesser-known gem just outside Lanzhou! If you’ve heard of Zhangye’s rainbow mountains, wait till you see these. The colours here are softer, with deep contrasts of reds, greys, and blacks, giving the mountains a water-ink painting effect – hence the name “Ink Danxia”. 🌄 The landscape is unlike anything I’ve seen in China. It almost feels like you’re walking through a painting, especially when the sun hits the ridges during golden hour. 🎫 Tickets are reasonably priced (¥60 as of July 2025), and it’s not overly crowded – perfect for photos and peaceful exploration. You can take a shuttle bus around the area, but be sure to walk up to the viewpoints – the panoramic views are worth every step! 📍Getting here from Lanzhou takes about 1.5–2 hours by car, so it’s great for a day trip. I recommend hiring a driver or joining a small local tour.
