🏛️ Yokosuka Museum of Art - An Art Space Embraced by the Sea and Mountains A minimalist building, featuring glass and steel panels, is set against the natural backdrop of Kannonzaki Park on the Miura Peninsula. Designed by architect Riken Yamamoto, the building offers views of Tokyo Bay and the sky from the lawn plaza in front of the museum and the rooftop plaza. Natural light streaming in through the round windows creates a soft, tranquil atmosphere.   The museum also features a cafe, a museum shop, and an annex, the "Taniuchi Rokuro Museum." At the Nakazono Koji exhibition I visited in 2018, there were around 50 paintings of bizarre creatures, which were exactly the kind of scenes I wanted to see. It was a very impressive challenge to my intuition. Approximately 50 works are on display, painted with a variety of media, including crayons and oil paints. True to his words, "The resulting surface may appear disjointed, but each is a scene I've always wanted to see," the exhibition unfolds a mysterious and haunting worldview.  My first impression was a strong, intuitive impression reminiscent of a "child's drawing" that transcends comprehension, and its enigmatic presence has remained etched in my mind ever since.  ⸻ Here are detailed access directions to the Yokosuka Museum of Art. Whether you arrive by public transportation or car, this location allows you to enjoy nature and art to the fullest. ⸻ 🚆Access by Public Transportation From Keikyu Maborikaigan Station (Keihin Kyuko Line) • Take the Keikyu Bus bound for Kannonzaki (Mabori Kaigan Station, Platform 1) • Ride for approximately 10 minutes and get off at the "La Vista Yokosuka Kannonzaki Terrace/Yokosuka Museum of Art" bus stop. • The museum is approximately a 2-minute walk away. From JR Yokosuka Station • Take the Keikyu Bus bound for Kannonzaki from Platform 3 at Yokosuka Station. • Ride for approximately 35 minutes and get off at "La Vista Yokosuka Kannonzaki Terrace/Yokosuka Museum of Art." It's a 2-minute walk from there. From Keikyu Uraga Station • Take the Keikyu Bus bound for Kannonzaki (Uraga → Kannonzaki) from Platform 1 at Uraga Station. • Get off at the last stop and walk for approximately 5 minutes to the museum.  Taxis are also available. It's about a 7-minute ride from Maborikaigan Station (1,500-1,600 yen) and a 10-minute ride from Uraga Station (1,700-1,800 yen).  ⸻ 🚗By Car • The museum is approximately 3km and 5 minutes from the Maborikaigan IC on the Yokohama-Yokosuka Expressway. • Approximately 11km and 35 minutes from the Yokosuka IC (via Honmachi-Yamanaka Toll Road → National Route 16).
