It opened in 2007 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the city's founding. The museum has a collection of about 5,000 pieces, mainly paintings, prints, and sculptures related to Yokosuka and the Miura Peninsula, and the Taniuchi Rokuro Museum also has a permanent exhibition of nostalgic magazine cover art. The view of Tokyo Bay from the round windows and open corridors inside and outside the building is spectacular.
