A Half-Day of Leisure at the Wujiujiu Cultural and Creative Aesthetics Space

This morning, a friend sent me a short video suggesting a visit to the Wujiujiu Cultural and Creative Aesthetics Space in Tachuan, Yixian County. Intrigued by the scene, we set off from our B&B in Tunxi, embarking on a 44-kilometer drive that took us about an hour. The Wujiujiu space is conveniently located near the renowned tourist attractions of Hongcun and Xidi. Having visited these villages four or five years ago, I vividly recall the quintessential Hui-style architecture: whitewashed walls, black-tiled roofs, horse-head walls, small bridges, and flowing water. However, the overwhelming commercialization and throngs of tourists left me with a less-than-favorable impression. In contrast, I found myself drawn to the aesthetic charm of this space. Its expansive layout and tasteful design exuded a unique ambiance. Upstairs, rows of bookshelves displayed a vast collection of books and cultural and creative products, creating a distinctly cultured and artistic atmosphere. This space also functions as a B&B, and we also explored the nearby "Original Hometown B&B," which boasted a stylish and unconventional decor. These accommodations range from CNY 200 to 300 per night during the off-season, while prices surge to CNY 700 to 800 during peak season and holidays. The village is enveloped by lush greenery, with a meandering river and fields of rapeseed plants awaiting harvest. Free-range chickens roam freely, pecking at the ground in search of food. The idyllic scenery exudes tranquility, immersing us in a picturesque landscape painting. We discussed the prospect of a group of friends gathering here for a few days, indulging in reading, tea-tasting, card games, and lighthearted drinks. It would undoubtedly be a blissful escape, a taste of paradise. This place is truly remarkable, a destination worth revisiting.
